One wonders how they ever came up with gay rei zero from the cesspool of the first half of the manga. The tone of the two differ so much it's jarring. Heck, the mc isn't even introduced in grz. It's like they never planned on making the prequel line up with the sequel.

its not great but it isn't that terrible either...although the second part isn't shaping up to be good so far....:/

Gai Rei's ending is what I would simply call a mess, and there's really no lesson learned/morale, hell I don't even think it even has a common theme! After epilogue was ass =_=, and I was trying my best to enjoy the series too lol

Haha you should still watch it. It's pretty cool and there is some lighthearted moments but those are by no means the norm.

lol, didn't even realize that the anime was a prequel of the manga and that the two were really different. Interesting.

Ga Rei manga was absolutely god awful. Anime is better, though they're not really the same story. I think the light hearted part of Gai Rei Zero is like....a good three/four episodes, if not more? Wasn't a big fan of the light hearted stuff, but I guess it seems to have dragged in the fools who were deceived, lol
The action got pretty good towards the end and there were some sick moments. Kind of whatever about the ending, but it's a prequel to a shitty manga, so I have to give it some slack.

I wouldn't call Ga Rei manga awful, it's certainly not great, and really generic, but there are a lot of really terrible shit out there.

Toru left both corpses, and together with his village found the bandits and slaughtered them. But Hatsumin didn't come back. And then Toru's view on life and the battlefield changed forever.
thanks. I was thinking along those lines. They should've left it in the anime though, quite the powerful moment imo.
