The Macross franchise as a whole is pretty overrated. The original Macross is a classic that was great for its time, but it didn't really end up aging well, if you really look at it.
Macross Plus is one of the stronger entries in it, and it was an extreeeemely overfunded big-budget OVA that was a big fucking deal when it was released, apparently. It's obvious in its production quality. The action, animation and effects in general are great. The story suffered, though.
I liked Frontier well enough, but its story wasn't quite as epic as the original's... ):
Personally, I want to see a remake of the original...lol.

I kinda disagree about the original Macross not aging well. I think it has aged alot better than, for example, the original Gundam, and I still enjoy both.
Also, apparently in HotD, when a girl act hysterical because zombies are trying to maul them to death, and most everyone they know are probably dead, that girl is "hated" by the fans. People complained about Rei in episode 1 (who got much better this past episode), and I guess now people are gonna complain about Takagi.
IMO I think people should complain about the nurse lady, rather than Takagi. Right now the only role she is filling is that of an air-headed adult with huge breasts.

Second episode of HSotD was meh.
Finished School Days and Higashi No Eden. School Days has the most despicable main character I've ever seen and I hate that anime so much for it. It didn't help that every one of those girls had to be the most clueless braindead idiots that have ever disgraced an anime too. Oh well. Ending was pretty sweet.
Higashi No Eden. Eh. Great anime, well done, I loved the realistic backgrounds and how even the slums look amazing. The story could've used some more development but overall it was pretty good.
Also, Sora No Otoshimono. Read or watch?

But I've only watched the anime. It was really good (for an ecchi series) and I heard it followed the manga really closely. And the same studio is making a 2nd season so you can expect more goodness.
It's up to you if you prefer reading or watching, really.

You'll be waiting for a while. The back stories of all of the characters are barely fleshed out in the manga and it's on the 6th volume. AKA she hasn't had her arc quite yet, but that doesn't mean she'll won't be of significance. It's pretty obvious what her apparent role is right now in the manga.

Nope. I just recently started downloading anime after spending almost a year and a half streaming, friend of mine was over at my house and I was like "name something you watched and thought was cool recently" and that's what he said. I just finally got around to watching it over the past couple days haha.
I know Sweet rates School Days pretty high though.

on topic of HSotD ep2: kinda agree Kanagi is annoying but I think her breakdown was justified (she seems to be a self proclaimed genius so obviously she ain't gonna be brave nor strong). Much like Thratur I liked the fact she fucked around with zombies to try and learn from them to be able to be on top but I just couldn't understand how she could be like "they can't feel anything but react to sounds" yet in the very scene and the next she's literally yelling when there's a shit ton of them next to her and gun otaku Hirano (is it even a real kind of otakuism?).
Fanservice Shizuka Marikawa sensei was annoying (lolwut boing boing when she's moving? completely useless) and could be removed. don't think she really adds much to the series so far.
and I know we're only 2 eps into the season, I know.

I just realized that Nobuyuki Hiyama plays Kouta. That makes him the best character in the show by far.

Lol, Hideyoshi is freaking huge and Mouri looks like a normal human in Sengoku Basara 2. That has gone against everything video games have taught me about the Sengoku period! <.<
