If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

Do you really need that spelled out to you? Hint. Fate/Zero Kiritsugu and typical Urobuchi writing.

The ending was very very nice, though I was a bit annoyed that Yukino's daughter is in love with Asaba lol that is very creepy. I knew Asaba was alone blah blah and he was all like oh yeah it's going to be a girl because I have homo erotic dreams about being with Soichiro and shit but it was creepy to see it happen. He's like 34 now? and the girl is 15? not to mention the fact that he practically raised her and her brothers, to see a relationship between them is so creepy. I would hope in the future that girl would shake that off or Asaba gets a gf or something <.<, I thought she got together with Maho since at the end they didn't seem to mention her bf at all. But then I remember what he said when he told Yukino that her kid was going to be a girl and all that stuff.

That was really the only complaint I have about this show, at first I didn't like that Yukino got pregnant so young and stuff but things turned out well. I loved when her and Asaba were pretending to be married because Soichiro got shot and what not then he comes bursting through the door like WTF I'm alive you jerks stop pretending to be married and wishing I was shot!. That was so like them, really love how humorous this show can be while at the same time being able to just toy with the readers emotions, so many emotional scenes <3 I love this show too much.

I was happiest they showed the development of the support character instead of having them there only to sacrifice everything for the lead characters (Oh hai there Toradora), some characters got more screen time than others (Poor Asaba didn't get his own chapter like Tsubasa, Kazuma, Tokefumi, etc etc did) Even some of the characters that didn't get their own chapter were shown growing throughout the show so that was nice. So happy I read it, now I can finally go back to being productive and not slack so badly at work .

BigFan, this is totally the show for you lol. If you don't like how this show ends then you positively can't be satisfied by anything EVER. I feel this is the type of ending you want out of this type of the shoujo genre so give it a shot.

I didn't mind the ending though I can see why some don't like it. If you like Kare Kano you should by Fruit Basket or Ourankoukou Host Club

Personally, I prefer sub for most things. DBZ and yugioh lol were the exceptions to that rule since I've watched them a long time back. I just prefer the original language and to me, it feels like that's what the anime was meant to be. An expression of the work of the author. The art styles usually reflect that as well and I think, dunno but I think I would find it really bizzare to see a japanese character(art style) talk in english in an anime lol. I haven't tried much dubs after the ones I mentioned(gave naruto a quick try, went back to sub) and I doubt I will anytime soon

hmm I'll likely give it a try after I finish watching Little Busters. So far, I'm really enjoying it although + Show Spoiler +
the whole Midori arc was so bizzare that I can't wrap my head around it ><; I mean, her twin which can't be seen? I figured she must be suffering from personality disorder or something but then something can't be explained by that either since you wouldn't know about your other 'self' when you have that and it seems or at least mentioned that it was like an imaginary friend early on.

Hmm I really can't think of too many complaints about the ending + Show Spoiler +
I mean maybe it was TOO nice how perfectly everything worked out for everyone, but I think specially for Yukino and Soichiro it meant they finally break free from that "curse" the Arima family had been carrying with it. So their life didn't turned out to be TOO uncommon considering how crazy those 2 were, except for the creepy almost incest-like love between Sakura and Asaba, it was a great ending. Had me in tears a couple of times. There's a lot I could nitpick but those aren't really complaints, just my personal opinions of how I wanted things to turned out as opposed to what the writer did.
I looked into Fruit basket almost right after I finished reading Kare Kano actually and idk, I don't really like fantasy/magic stuff in shoujo, so I don't know if I'll read that but I have been keeping Ouran on my list so I'll eventually get to it. If you know something more "real life" like Kare Kano, feel free to recommend it .

But there are a few shows that managed to throw together good english casts as well. Baka to Test and Sora no Otoshimono had some good casts for English.

funny I would have mentioned Baka to Test as something that is absolutely unwatchable in english. I was interested in what it's like and it just felt really amateurish, especially considering that Baka to Test was pretty much carried on VA to begin with, which made it even worse.

Let's be honest, dubbing anime into english can be done good but usually it's not considered as something that needs to be done decently. There are good ones but the japanese ones are almost always decent. If you know something that you really like in English because you think the VA is done really good go ahead and watch that by all means.

Edit: was directed at the guy you were directing your post at. Should have probably included that somewhere

Thinking about it I guess it has something to do with there not being a lot dubs into english to begin with. There's either english actors, who talk english and therefore don't need subbing or (I have been told) you watch the film in the native language with subtitles to feel smug, thus not giving a lot of possible work for people who'd want to become good VA if you ignore stuff like simpsons.
VA is a lot bigger of a thing in countries that aren't english speaking because most movies are english and are getting dubbed into your native language and there's famous ones for that. I think I mentioned the german voice for Bruce Willis is fucking awesome sometime ago and he's kind of famous for that. So I'd say VA just really isn't that big of a thing if the target language is english?

Its a secondary market to the prime one so of course the english VA is a class below. They know a ton of people would rather watch it in the original Japanese anyway. Some of it is so horrible it is unwatchable (especially if you watch it in Japanese 1st) you just think of 100000 ways that VN is not fit for the role and they suck at VA in general lol.

I like to sample the dubs when I can so I can see if they are horrible or not. If they aren't then dubbed anime make good background noise while working There are a few good actors whose voices I like so if I hear one of them in a show I usually will give it a shot.

Btw I randomly read a couple of chapters of Claymore last night. Has an interesting story it seems, though the art isn't as much my style and kinda looks a bit rough. The anime any good?

hajime no ippo airing this season, though tbh those are probably the most generic parameters for a show ever.

First couple of episodes aren't all that special then it gets really good then the end falls off because it only covers a bit of the manga and feels that way, rocky is annoying, all stuff to do with claire is cool and limbs are like clothes in ecchi fighting anime. Worth a watch but manga is more complete and is meant to be a lot better (although i cannot speak to that myself).

Dub is also a bit annoying/bad.

By the way have you experienced the IS dub? The accents are glorious!

It's about warriors fighting monsters, I'm a fan. The drawings do improve in quality, but the anime is definitely the best way to get into Claymore. Watch up to episode 19 and then switch to the manga as it starts to branch off at that point to an anime only ending then go chapter 59 of the manga. All you will miss is one foreshadowing scene, a cut spar scene and Raki kicking a guy in the balls, no idea why they cut that out of the anime.

Shit, I completely forgot about Claymore. I watched that show years ago when it came out and was so freaking pissed with the ending :| too shit for my taste. I should read that now, should I just read the whole manga or after the anime started making shit up? from what point of the manga is that? Also hmm is the manga still going or did it stop? All I remember my friends telling me was that the chapters came out once a decade or something lol so hmm yeah, would prefer if it was finished but really just wondering.

Pffft, you obviously never watched Claymore, the anime was awesome for the first 20 episodes or so then they started making shit up and fucked up the ending. For me it was one of the better shows of that season, I always said I would read the manga but I never did but eh I finished 15 volumes of Kare Kano in a couple of days so it shouldn't take me long to get through Claymore. So no, not shit so fail joke , let's face it IS is actually shit . I'll respond in the morning lol somehow it's 3am already D:.

Hmm well I'm sure I would have to read a lot to catch up so I'll just take my time with it. As long as it's not as slow as Titan I'm happy .

Monthly releases can be a real pain, two bad my favorite two manga are monthly....the wait for the recent cliff hangers is brutal (especially Sora No Otoshimono that just went on a 3 month break T_T). That and Rosario Vampire II sure as hell did 180s in how they turned out.
Never Knows Best.

All I see here are excuses for your blatant disregard for my hard work on countering your biggest rant to date Having said that, I expect a full detailed report on the latest episode to go with the rant. I want everything found from that episode to be transcribed down and it's relevance to the plot explained in details Yes, it's very late so you'll get a pass for tonight

PS IS is a very cool anime. You're just jealous that you don't watch it due to watching crappier animes. Now if you'll excuse me, I have an IS episode to watch :D

the best thing in claymore is riful and dauf (spelling?) but the series has an original ending and the manga goes nowhere not to mention its hard to indentify the warriors if you havent watched / read some time because the all look the same...

Im confused. Are you guys talking about Infinite Stratos?

Either way Tatenashi's sister is REALLY cute. At first I wasnt into her but she really grew on me this episode.

And lol. Anyone else thought of Red Axe when she was watching that show under her blanket? So cawuuute~!
