Does it get better later on? It is more about the various characters and their backgrounds than an actual storyline. There is some stuff that spans multiple episodes but it never really develops a storyline that spans the rest of the series. Keep watching you may like it. In General its more like Vordin wrote all the characters have a past and thats interesting, the comedy moments are also funny. Its more about the style of the series ,different genres mixed together, the music etc. Maybe you like the Movie better which has more of a story. Movie is set between episode 22 and 23. Even if you not like it you should watch it till the end cause its a series you should atleast know. Sorry that I cant be too critical about it since its one of favourite animes, definetly in my top 10.

Eh, I'll keep watching and hope it gets better, I was mainly curious about what to expect.

Probably want to label that spoiler.

Is there an announcement that s3 will be made? and its been years since the kizu announcement XD according to what I heard ecael talk about there are s3 books out already, because I'm pretty sure he said something along the lines of "Tsukihi is really good in s3 as well"And some other stuff like that, so yeah there'll be an season 3, nothing official I've heard of though. iirc s3 talk is something along the lines of Shinbo saying he'd do all of monogatari series with s3 books already announced, so people kind of just assumed that means everything to come will also be animated.
As for Tsukihi, she gets a fair number of lines, though it'd be nice if we get more Gahara-san.

The thing with Cowboy Bebop (and to a similar extent Samurai Champloo) is that the story is episodic but a lot of the content is really repetitive and at some point it just gets really boring and the only good episodes are the ones that don't deal with the main plot and are just there to be funny (like the baseball episode in Champloo and that American cowboy you might see later).
I think Shinichiro Watanabe knows how to write endings....but not stories if that makes sense, because the only things really memorable to me now that I look back on everything from both shows are their endings. Everything else is just muddled with everything else. :/
|
Yeah, I only remember endings and some select episodes I liked from Bebop and Champloo. I don't think it's the good kind of series to marathon (I mean, like most episodic shows imo).
|
I don't think it was all that repetitive. As an aside, Pierrot Le Fou was easily the best episode.

Most people seem to like that episode because that fucker kicked Spike's ass pretty hard so it was interesting to watch. I really liked Sympathy for the devil, Heavy metal queen and the episodes with Faye's story like My funny valentine, I always thought it was a shame they didn't show more about her. I felt her story was better than Jet's though they didn't really give Jet a chance to tell his story as much as Faye and Spike or maybe I just thought it was weak.
I really can't argue with you guys because it's probably my favorite show and I'm biased, but I always thought every episode had its charm and was great in their own way, even if some episodes were disconnected. I always liked the new characters in those episodes, like the cowboy or the bomb guy or that "kid" who played the harmonica or the saxophone player in Jupiter Jazz. There are a lot of fun and unique characters.

He kicked Spike's ass pretty hard, plus the overall style and feel of the episode was great.

Ami is the only person apparently in Toradora who actually has a brain. Kinda tragic how she basically knows how everything will shake out at the end and has to live with the fact that she has 0 chance with Ryuuji for like the whole series.

Thank you, someone who understand my pain . Ami was such a waste on that show, painful to watch her knowing she has no chance . Definitely best the best character.

They wrote her well, with her increasingly frustrated attitude and disgust with everyone. Minori is just....I don't even know yet I keep waiting for them to explain why the way she is (3 episodes left). Taiga actually gets better as the series goes on though.

Hmmm I don't remember exactly, but didn't she talk about the whole situation about why she plays softball and all that?. About how she wanted to play baseball but can't because she's not a guy so she's a little jealous of her brother and all that. I think she's more depressed by that than you might think, so she's always trying to be crazy positive and energetic so that won't get her down. I think that's part of the reason, another is I THINK, she feels getting a bf or making a move for Ryuji before would reduce her chances of being good at softball so she had this whole struggle of being alone with her goal and always act the way she does or idk maybe feel guilty about having a bf and not put as much work towards her softball. I think that was what I got from her. But she's definitely not as well developed as Ami, when Ami decided to stay I thought she would make a GOOD and OBVIOUS move on Ryuji but she didn't and since Ryuji is fucking dumb nothing ever happened with poor Ami.

If thats all it is then her whole character is fucking stupid. She has made some small statements that allude to that I guess but nothing substantial. I mean I know she has the whole "I don't want to cock block Taiga" thing going but the rest of her motivations seem vague and just poorly developed.

I really didn't see anything else besides this, I mean all she does is go to school, work, then work some more and play softball. Guess she doesn't want to show she's depressed about not being a baseball player and that she sort of chose not to have a bf so she wouldn't look so hmm idk girly? These are my conclusions lol, besides this can't think of any other motivations for how she is. In this show secondary characters are unimportant, it's all about Taiga and Ryuji.
Yeah I get what you say about cock blocking Taiga, I really hated that you know. I mean if Minori can just give up on Ryuji for Taiga why can't the opposite happen? just seems shit that it can't go both ways just because it was previously decided those 2 would end up together and no one else was allowed to. That's when I started to dislike the show because the secondary characters were there just so Taiga and Ryuji had someone to talk to and cock block lol.

Ahahahaha just finished another episode. She doesn't make sense in any way shape or form at all. Yelling at Taiga for doing THE EXACT SAME THING SHE IS DOING. Plus yea the constantly working is something I would have liked to know why she apparently doesn't want to have any free time. The whole baseball thing hasn't been brought out except that she obviously puts a shit ton of effort into it and she has a successful brother who plays and she mentioned very briefly in a not so serious way that she was jealous of that. Her weird metaphors when it comes to dating don't help but it seems like she bat shit scared of romance and how she "can't see it" so she tries to ignore it?
Nothing really about it being a deeper issue though. Everything seems like an excuse to throw the two main leads together.
In the end she doesn't come off as being an actual person.

Nothing really about it being a deeper issue though. Everything seems like an excuse to throw the two main leads together. With Minori, I feel that she's meant to be that odd character. The one who's energetic, kind and amazing but that she's hiding something as well. She works a ton of jobs because this is her youth or something like that. I guess she feels that she should keep busy because she's able to and keeps her optimistic. She always gave those side answers to any problems with analogies and such. It was just 'her way'.
ya, it does seem odd how she yells about the same thing but maybe to her, she feels better off than Taiga and doesn't feel the need for a bf even if she loves him? That's at least the only conclusion I can come to. I was always impressed by how much Taiga developed in the anime. Ami is also another great character who developed well and I think to her, being with a group of friends was more meaningful than ending up in a relationship considering her history. If you're almost done watching, must be at the wackier part of the show XD

Well as I mentioned above in my edit, the secondary characters don't really matter. They can make every sacrifice possible for the main characters but it can't go the other way around which I really hate, it makes the show predictable and makes it seem lazy <.<. Why bother giving these people actual reasons for doing things when they don't really matter.
I think not being able to do the one thing she wants to do affects her and she just hides from romance in general, she doesn't want to see "ghosts" because she is afraid of letting go and maybe rely on someone else for a change?. Ami was the only character who grew with the show, they should have kept her boring and underdeveloped that way I won't be annoyed she got totally ignored.
