If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

Politics can be done well in anime, haha. I take it you have never watched things like LoGH or Crest of the Stars. Even the new Yamato has stuff like that in it.

They're skipping the politics because either:
a) they want to compress everything into one cour, which is retarded, unless they think they'll never get a sequel greenlit. Even then, it's still retarded, because they've suddenly created a bunch of anime-only plotholes that will impede a sequel.
b) they think it's too complex, which is retarded

well, I'm sure they can be done but I have no clue why they won't just include a bit of politics. You are correct to say that I haven't watched any of those three animes though lol.

You should watch Crest of the Stars, it has the most epic space opera space music for its OP.

Little Busters Refrain 6

+ Show Spoiler +
Holy moley so much happened this episode. So many feels were felt. Kyousuke seems like the enemy even though it feels like he hates to do it. Same for Masato to more of an extent. I half-expected Kengo to betray Riki in some way to help him since it seemed like everyone is "helping" Rin and Riki. Them running away looked like a great plan but ultimately wouldn't work. Have to wait for next episode so long now

Golden Time 6

+ Show Spoiler +
Linda looks so much better with long hair. Even though I didn't expect things to pick up so suddenly with Linda and Bahnri. I'm starting to like this show quite a bit. All the VA are doing an exceptional job imo, really getting each point across. Even though it looks like Koko will be main girl, from the OP and stuff, I'm still 100% team Linda. Well played Golden Time keeping up the tradition of best girl never main girl.

I wouldn't know where to start, the only Manga stuff I actively read is just Tower of God.

ya they are doing a good job with that. + Show Spoiler +
I'm also team Linda and hope he ends up with her but considering what the story is, he'll likely end up with koko. The show seems to have gotten better in the last two episodes or so compared to when it first started so let's hope it continues that way.

Anyone know the ringtone used in a lot of animes that they play when someone dreaded calls?
Its very classical has a huge crescendo in the beginning and peters out into a violin/voila.
Or they play it when something terrible happens. All i know is that all of you have heard it at least once.

Best standalone song in my opinion:

@BigFan: Tokyo Ravens is an action series atm that can be pretty funny. Doesn't really have mech and the CGI can be kind of bad but otherwise it's relatively enjoyable. Strike the Blood pretty similar in that vein except less CGI.

seriously, Gema even blocks that in Germany?

As for Tokyo Ravens, if I put up with it for another like 8 episodes I might see a good fight at last. If I can keep up with it for even longer Sakura Ayane will be back to carry the show. Now how long can I endure the pain~

Well, the show is about the Fog having very powerful ships with advanced technology. I'm not sure what you expected from that lol. I mean, yes, that episode where + Show Spoiler +
they defeated Takao with the gun(or w/e its called) was a bit out of the blue(for anime at least)
but the fights seem well done. I made a mention to a friend of mine about it a while back. He ended up finding the show even though I only gave him some general description and watched it. He ended up loving it and watches it every week. Considering what the show is about, I think it's impressive that they are keeping us interested in it even if politics had to be involved. When was the last time we had an anime about ships fighting + Show Spoiler +
and submarines winning against heavy ships?
lol.

The point is that Arpeggio is much more than just the combat. One of the most interesting parts of the story involves the political wrangling with the Japanese government, and how the ground forces (ie. not the navy) are itching for a fight after being rendered useless for years by the Fog.

Also, Silent Service.

hmm I guess I see your point. I didn't realize the ground army is itching to get into a fight with the Fog since the anime doesn't touch on that. Either way, I plan to read the manga after the anime is done so I'll be able to get all the politics and such

just read the manga now. Much more Takao action in there anyways and I'm already scared they might scrap all that for the anime

The anime serves as a nice animation for all the fight scenes, but there's so much juicy/funny stuff missing. Ok the 402, 400, Kongou and Yamato stuff isn't canon but it's still funny.

The most annoying thing for me is that they apparently decided it would be a good idea to give Iona that mentally handicapped flair. Making her completly emotionless no matter what to put emphasis on this whole "omfg we are machines who aren't supposed to feel anything but we're starting to!"

So much good Iona action missing because of that

It feels like she doesn't have any personality at all in the anime. I started the manga, already better though I'll keep watching the show for ship porn.
