A younger audience (pre high school) I'd go with FMA, and Slam Dunk For more adult taste you can go with a suggestion that's not quite anime-ish, like Mushishi, Monster, PlanetES and Eve no Jikan. For a girl, KareKano, FruitBasket, Chobits seem to be typical from my experience. Though my gf's first real anime was NaNa, she enjoyed H&C alot as well. Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi is also worth a shot for name recognition, and smooth transition from Disney. | ||

That's why I said it's awkward. Kind of like watching those really bad guys singing in castings for Idols (whatever the show's called in your country) just not that extreme. There haven't been any major battles either so they would have to write an entirely new story line. | ||
