Shana Season 3 ? Hmz, I really liked S1, Season2 Was kinda mwha never read the manga but i must agree that she looks WAY WAY WAY better on that pic then in the anime. I'm looking forward for season 3 anyway i guess, hopefully its good. Zero no Tsukaima first season was really good (atleast i really liked it)Season2 was like hmz what is actualy going on, and in Season3 there was NO STORY LINE AT ALL WTF WAS THAT SHIT LOOOOOOOL. If shana is gonna be like that fuck that shit forreal wont even watch a single episode.

I never really liked Kugimiya Rie. Most tsundere heroines Kugimiya played came off as unbearably immature. Shana was okay, but by the time S2 came out, all my memories of S1 were gone so I had no interest in watching it. To the guy who's watching Darker than Black: Have fun; that show's legit. Has anyone seen Gankutsuou? A friend of mine was watching it last year, but I always felt obligated to re-read Monte Cristo before watching it... unsurprisingly I haven't gotten around to watching it. Is it worth a week of my life to begin watching it? EDIT: Jesus I got my books mixed up. No wonder I can't even remember animes.

Ziph, not like you are behind, just like on the spur of the moment there was a lot spammed sometime during the MSL group selection :p On June 05 2009 03:23 EchOne wrote: Akira was 1988. Good question, I haven't watched it, but I had the chance to read up on it randomly once. The focus seems to be much more on the Viscount Morcerf than Monte Cristo. Not sure how much the influence of the actual Gankutsuou shows though, I know they couldn't get the name for Count of Monte Cristo so had to settle for Gankutsuou. Oh well, if memory serves, Gankutsuou might as well as have been Monte Cristo with Japanese names and settings, the serialized novel, that is.

Boogiepop Phantom and Mind Game especially are really fucked up and trippy anime, a lot more so than Mushishi and Lain,Mind Game is like getting high on psychedelic mushrooms, really weird shit . Also Gankutsuou the count of Monte Cristo is a great anime adaption with really nice animation, its one of my favourites and I reccomend it greatly, it diverges and takes a different twist on the book, but its really good stuff, and the execution is amazing, a lot better than the movie, and better than what I have read in the abridged book(but the book part might be due to me watching the anime first). Watch it, its only worth half day of your life, 24 eps only, and its epic stuff, I highly recommend it, Great plotline and execution. Edit: That comedy anime with the greenheaded?? kid in the jungle was pretty trippy too, forgot its name though. And to understand the Gankutsuou name you have to watch the anime, its not because of copyrights as dead people's work has no copyright.

EDIT - Japanese wiki didn't have a more detailed entry on Gankutsuou the novel, but from the other pages, it looks like the translator did take the liberty to change names into more acceptable forms in plain Japanese. Consequently the name Gankutsuou is used, as that name is much more readily recognized, I won't know whether they spun additional meaning into the anime though.

Nope, Gankutsuou is not the name of the Count of Monte of MOnte cristo in Japanese, and if I recall from the anime Count sounded like Hakshaku or something like that. Infact the anime's name is not Gankutsuou only but Gankutsuou:The Count of Monte Cristo iirc. You have to watch the anime to understand the meaning of the name.

There has to be a communication error here, the name of the Count himself is not Gankutsuou, but the name of the novel when it was translated into Japanese at first during 1890s was Gankutsuou. If you think I meant that Edmond Dantes's name was that, then no. In the said translation though, I am fairly sure his name was changed. And yes, I know that the anime is not based on the translation but on the original (or rather translation that doesn't take liberties. Here is the Japanese wiki of the translator if you can read/want to feed it through an automated translator. EDIT - On an unrelated note, yay k-on ep10.
