Queen of Tsundere <3 holy jesus your right : \ im watching shana right now and, its kind of not cool Shana is honestly a show that you are more drawn towards because of the hype of the series from a light novel and because of cast, Kugumiya Rie, Noto Mamiko and Kawasumi Ayako is quite a formiddable cast. If we put the kind of entertaining show with almost all rookies (k-on, Suzumiya when it first aired is close-ish in that Hirano Aya was practically a no-name back then) on one side of the scale and trash w/ brilliant cast (Queen's Blade anyone~) on the other, I'd say Shana is somewhere like 2/3rd down the line to Queen's Blade.
Do we have any details on any variation in terms of studio/director/etc for season 3, or is it just one of those things on like comptiq with a blurp about it releasing at some point?
On June 04 2009 16:46 konadora wrote: season 2?
season 1>2 imo 2>1 simply because we get more Noto Mamiko. A lot more.

You guys are spinning like way over my head with names and shit now...I'm getting so confused.
So...
What is "tsundere"?
Are Akane Iro blah blah blah and Gintama any good?
What is Akasaka?
hahaha.

Matsuri still remains one of my favorite characters, even minus Noto Mamiko voiceacting. Yeah, I agree...Sola could have been a LOT better than it was. I totally forgot about it, though. It left a relatively feeble impression on me, lol.

Quoted from my blog
The July issue of ASCII MediaWorks’ Dengeki Bunko Magazine will reveal on June 10 that the “Shana Project is restarting” with a “new anime in development” for Shakugan no Shana. -AnimeNewsNetwork
I'm guessing it'll be the same studio, don't know about director, seiyuu cast should be the same.

It's pretty poorly done or looks like it had a low budget. It needs to improve animation, sound, plot, the male lead, dialogue, and the outside characters. It has some good moments but they are too few and far between.

Akane iro ni Somaru Saka = Akasaka. It's basically an eroge. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eroge)
I'm a sucker for romance too, but I think in season 2, they could have done a bit less in that aspect.

They were produced by J.C Staff, one of the most notable studios out there. Don't really know why they messed up Shana so hard.

Gintama is excellent, at least the manga is, the anime also has quite good pacing and all, but some of my friends feel like the humor is more geared toward asians. Akane-iro ni somaru saka is an eroge turned all-age turned anime from like two seasons ago? Average at best, watch if you have a thing for Kugumiya and Hirano Aya. (edit wow at screwing up Japanese grammar so hard, I need sleep, let it slide please konadora). I can't explain tsundere, try looking it up. Akasaka is a name or a place, one that pops up to mind is a character from Higurashi ga naku koro ni, but I've been tempted to read the games recently so that's in the foreground of my mind.
EDIT - I didn't know akaneiro got abbreviated as akasaka, isn't that confusing? I mean, 茜色 and 赤坂, wrong colors wtf :p
EDIT - Testie bashed Shana hard lol. Can't quite disagree with him, light novel series of long standing tends to be cash cows like shonen manga, best have low expectations.

Akane iro ni Somaru Saka
That's how me and a few other people I know call that series anyway
Gintama.. man. Manga is brilliant.
Btw, the songs used for Shana were kickass.

Season 2 of Shana was alot worse than Season 1, IMO. I mean, there was wayyyy too much boring romance shit happening. It wasn't until the second half, when they actually started having fights again, that it got interesting again.
Hopefully Season 3 will learn from past mistakes.

LOl it was Darker than black. I remembered Black, and just thought of that word. Thank you all! Def some cool animes in here will check some out.

Hopefully Season 3 will learn from past mistakes. J.C staff's gotten much better since then, doing good works like Toradora, To aru Majutsu no Index, Hayate no Gotoku!!, etc. I'm sure season 3 won't disappoint :3
btw, I'll be watching Detective Conan, episode 526 and a few more episodes. Feel free to join me at http://www.livestream.com/konadora

Majutsu no Index was actually surprisingly well done.+ Show Spoiler + I didn't notice until I had watched the whole first season that the they only had introduced the characters and had done very little on the actual main storyline. I'm Looking forward to season 2.

I'm Looking forward to season 2. There is very little "main storyline" , the light novel is just starting to develop that really, to be honest, I doubt the author had anticipated the novel to go on as long as it had, because there was very little relating to the "main" plot for the first 8 volumes really, it isn't until vol 9 do we start seeing more clearly the forces at work. That said, I enjoyed the series a lot (Misaka~) and found the anime to be a fair adaptation of the original light novels. They cut out a ton of things to make it all fit in time though

In terms of content... Light Novel >>>> Anime always.

On June 04 2009 18:22 konadora wrote: In terms of content... Light Novel >>>> Anime always. Well, of course, the question though is how much the animated version is willing to shed from the original work. Let's take Kara no Kyoukai, that is an excellent adaptation in that it kept all the important things of the original novel yet did not spend too much time on the other things. The original novel is really a primer of the type-moon universe and goes into much detail about the mechanics of the universe and such, while it is slightly disappointing to see those things left out as a type-moon fan, it does work out much better and prevented every chapter from being 2 hours long (chapter 5 would've been like 4 hours if they tossed in everything). With light novels though, we don't tend to see that, they tend to instead just shave out the character development for main plot. It is really an issue of pace, I suppose, you simply can't spend 52+ episode on 6 volumes, yet character development is meant for that length, but plot is dispersed through that. Index didn't suffer as much when it got animated simply because the early volumes are really disconnected.

If I can find online versions of it, I'll read it. Gotta find a torrent for the movie though. How old is it?
