Some incident happened there, cant remember the name. I think the title of the series is one word. Huge wall was built, to keep away some bad people! Any help is appreciated! Is Planetes in that vein? Banner of the Star and Crest of the Star (Seikai no senki and seikai no monshou respectively), use KAA's subs for the latter if you try. 2 seasons of the former (+1 ova) and one season of latter, plus a movie. One of the best animes I've ever watched, featuring excellent characters, action is subpar unfortunately, though it really isn't the focus of the series.

Is Planetes in that vein? Planetes is not a space opera, or anywhere near it, but it is a must watch and it is really good. Banner of the stars series mentioned above is pretty good and similar to the Star Trek movie, I liked it. The best space opera is definetly Legend of the Galactic Heroes, 100+ episodes of epic space drama, if you like battlestar galactica you will definetly love Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

When a gangster mermaid wears a high-school sailor uniform to stalk his daughter in a few episodes... yeah. If you like scifi, seinen Gunmm (or Battle Angel Alita) is one of the best sci-fi mangas out there. Current chapters are a bit too much shounen-fighting, but it's all really good.
