Ah, I see.
Well, while it may not be based on bloodline, it seems that people with the name Shiki get the ability automatically <.<
Shiki wasn't in Nanaya mode when he fought Nero?
+ Show Spoiler +Or when he fought Akiha or when he sliced up Arcuied?

The whole naming thing is probably just Nasu being lazy. Shiki -> Shiki + Show Spoiler + Azaka -> Akiha
Shiki's in Nanaya mode whenever he has headaches or the screen's red, more or less.

Well there is another one around, bearbuddy~
Shiki can be said to always kind of be in Nanaya mode, since his blood reacts to any kind of an unnatural being. The question is how much of his old demon-hunting family blood is affecting him. The very first encounter with Arc probably marked the point when it surfaced the sharpest, at least without the tampering of a certain person. When he fought Nero, it was definitely present, but it doesn't really seem like the instinctual kill mode from the blood has been in effect. The events with Akiha and SHIKI (ffs English, give me kanji) had been kind of manipulated by the said certain person, so it is kind of hard to guess how affect he was.
As for naming, well, originally rakkyo is supposed to be kind of a prototype Tsukihime. There might've been things about why he named characters like this, but I am way too lazy to check through all the stuff I have for it, so let's just say he got lazy
And yeah, T-M, hours upon hours. When are we going to get into a discussion of Kagetsu Tohya and the single best fanfic of all time for Tsukihime?
|
I honestly don't remember much from Kagetsu Tohya, lol.
Ren wasn't a particular memorable heroine. I'm somewhat uninterested in Loli characters. Of the side stories, I remember Con game, Ciel-sensei, Shiki's dad, and Akiha's epilogue.
With the attack on Arcuied, it just seems quite different from the other iterations of Nanaya Shiki. Granted, there's quite a bit of sadism still, but he didn't taunt like a total badass with the other two cases.

Just finished watching Angel Beats. It was okay I guess. Production values are pretty damn high. Story's not that interesting at the moment, but it's only episode one. If the other Key series are any indication, this should start off as a comedy and slowly descend into heart-wrenching tragedy. I was looking forward to the OP, but it never came.
I still can't help but think of Haruhi when I see Yurippe and the band. Argh.
I'm reading comments on myanimelist. Apparently the coalguys subs was a troll. =P + Show Spoiler [Like so] +
Edit: Almost forgot: WHY IS TK'S ENGLISH SO GOOD?

After I finish Kohaku's route and Plus Disc, I plan on starting Kagetsu Tohya (as long as exams don't get in the way <.< ). I hear it's a completionist's nightmare.

Watching full metal alchemist now. I'm on episode 16, pretty sad anime but its the only one I decided to watch besides Yu Yu Hakusho because I think most animes are boring :/ (Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, etc)
|
Any good mecha animes? I have been spoiled by Gundam Wing 00 and Code geas the past few years. This year, I can't seem to find any decent ones.
|
Gundam Unicorn's first episode is worth a watch. Gurren Lagann if you haven't yet . Gundam 08th MS Team is also a really good mecha series. Macross Zero has some of the sickest animation I have ever seen, and the battles look beautiful.
Maybe Neon Genesis Evangelion and Bokurano (?) if you want a storyline less concentrated on mechs and more on psychological aspects.

Rahxephon, Vision of Escaflowne, Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann, Blue Gender, Heroic Age, Terra e..., Gundam SEED
|
Best Anime Ever - Gintama.
|
Heroic Age is horrible; slow ass story telling with 1 dimensional characters.
Go watch the original mecha/giant robot series Macross and Gundam (the UC timeline) if you can bear the vintage animation and artwork.

Try watching something in a different genre - you might be pleasantly surprised.

Thats not that bad and is atleast worth a try -_- On the topic of MAL ratings, I usually find that anything under an 8.0 is usually of mediocre to low quality because everybody rates really friggin' high. It's a really, really crude generalization, but I think a good guideline is that it's likely that you'll enjoy an anime that's rated higher than 8.0, and anything below that mark is more up to personal preference.
On a different note, I took a look at the flowchart for Kagetsu Tohya. Holy shit.
|
Ah. I usually rate my shit on more of a enjoyment level from 8-10. 5 is shit, 6 is normal(nothing special to series that makes it stand out) 7 is like a 6 but has that little something that makes it much more enjoyable to watch and 8-10 are all great series and depending on how much i enjoy it i rate it higher.
|
But then again, most of the time MAL ratings are pretty bad.
Just finished Texhnolyze after it being on my watching list for about 3 months. Ending so sad ;____;
For me, 10 is like top 5 anime level, 9 is amazingly good, 8 is good, 7 is 'enjoyed', 6 is ok, and below 6 it becomes a bit arbitrary.

thanks for the advice. I tried watching Hellsing before though, and its a bet meh, although the other ones you listen do sound good.

Ah, did u watch the old TV series or the new OVA of it. The OVA is much much better
Anyways, you should definetly give Great Teacher Onizuka a try in that list. Its an old anime so at first you might not like how the animation looks, old quality u know. But if u stay with it you'll get used to it. GTO is probably the funniest anime ive ever seen and imo you cant watch anime without have seeing atleast that series Only other series ive watched that made me laugh just as much is maybe Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu (think thats how u spell it).
