If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

Arlong Park is really good early arc, though it's a bit weak between that and CP9, with exception of Crocodile

Ya the Arlong Park arc was probably the only decent arc early on. Everything after that was kinda slow until after Crocodile. I totally forgot about him. But I believe the Crocodile arc was after Sky Island so my assessment that things get better Sky Island is right I think.

Pretty sure Crocodile is before sky island, that's the first major arc in Grand line

Robin was with the crew on sky island and read about Poseidon

No, the Baroque Works arc was the first one when they got to the Grand Line. Arcs went something like East Blue (highlighted by the Arlong Arc)->Baroque Works (Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, Drum, Alabasta)->Skypeia->Davy Back->Water 7, and so on (not gonna list them all). Usopp's arc in the beginning is a bit dull, Sanji's too, but Arlong and Loguetown were good. The entire Baroque Works arc was good. Skypeia was good although dragged a bit in the middle. loldavy back. Water 7 and onwards are all good.

is there an anime or cartoon or irl series
where theres a young girl who is protected by a massive hulking warrior guardian
and they potentially go on a journey (through wilderness, jungle)

i have some vague (to say the least) recollection of a cartoon or maybe it was an irl series where this happened (probably the guardian warrior didnt speak much, and there was possibly another character involved).

but an anime like that would be cool too

vampire princess miyu might be like that but idk i havent seen it
basically young girl & her warrior guardian questing

Well they kinda' had to do some character dev for the main characters. Otherwise it'd turn into a Bleach/Fairy Tail where you have so many characters but don't really give two shits except your favorite one.

But I do admit they were dull also. I just tell people I recommended One Piece to wait until after the Crocodile Arc for them to either keep going or drop it (by then they usually just go on after having watched 200+ eps).

Yeah, of course they do. Character development is good. Its just, unfortunately the intro story concerning Usopp isn't very compelling. Sanji's has parts that is okay, parts that dragged, its been a while, IDK. But telling people to wait until after Baroque Works is a long time/alot to watch for someone to give it a try. If someone doesn't like One Piece after they watch the Arlong Arc, then thats when you can start dismissing their opinion imo. Because everything that happens after the Arlong Arc is good.

one piece is very watchable at first but i started getting sick of the limited, simplistic and repetitive dialogue & character interaction, lack of humour, and almost stopped watching at drum island (78-91). im around end of alabasta (125) and will pick it up again sometime just for the cool adventure aspect

I don't enjoy most of the OP humor either *shrugs*

Edit:
But you are also aware of my not-particularly-enamored stance on OP.

Just want to ask anyone in here. I have seen Naruto/Bleach and i loved them both. Do anyone have any suggestions of which Anime i should watch next if i like Naruto kind of animes?

If you liked Naruto and Bleach, I personally can't stand them :"), you will absolutely love HxH and One Piece. If not, you have no taste :p

I'm not a big fan of HxH. I really don't see the appeal.

I have to agree, I started OP when I already like 250+ shows and I had to struggle through till Arlong but Loguetown onward did the trick..

I'd probably say the Yorknew arc is where I started disliking it, but yeah, for a while it was pretty good.

Well people have their own opinion on things, I though the Arlong Arc was okay at best and the crocodile arc was above average and the sky island arc would be above average too if it didnt get dragged on like you said. Either way, there is no doubt that One Piece had a slow start compare to the other big 3 before it start getting good. Some where after Crocodile arc or during, it started picking up and got really good. Just wanted to give the person who going to watch a heads up that he should be putting down the series too much in the beginning and give it a real try so he can experience the best shonen :D
