Maybe if I give Unicorn a try I will understand Mecha anime in a whole new light. So far the only mecha I watched was Infinite Stratos and I like it a lot.

Please tell me I'm not the only person here who loves Macross I dont like Mecha but yeah Climber Mospedea is probably my favourite anime period, Macross probably after that, although I prefer Folker/Focker and Sterling/Genius to Hunter/Ichijyo On November 26 2011 09:50 Emnjay808 wrote: I decided to catch up on some Bakemonogatari today and watch eps 9 and 10. It was good like I expected, all that jaz, yada yada yada, etc. Then I saw that I was two eps of Boku Ha Tomodachi and was like "Heck Ill knock those out too". I barely got 2 mins in and I closed the video and wanted to trash my entire Tomodachi folder in the bin. Idk why I felt like that. I was like "man fck this anime, its so stupid". I never felt like this ever before. I normally enjoy stuff like Tomodachi, but right after watching Bakemonogatari I couldnt help but feel pissed off at the show. Does anyone else feel like this sometimes? Like man, I dont wanna feel this way but its just how I feel atm. = / If your going to watch shows like Haganai at all, you need to have already finished Bakemonogatari and set it to memory and for the most part forgotten about it aswell, this probably applies to most shows. If you watch trash shows around the same time as relatively good shows episodically you will find yourself either closing it or just seeking through and skipping to the end. I skipped Haganai myself, I saw it getting generically bad pretty quickly and i went with Maji de watashi for my bad show this season, theres no shortage of shows preceeding it either so theres nothing wrong with watching them either as long as your willing to switch of your brain. + Show Spoiler [Penguindrum 20] + Im going to lol so hard if that child broiler actually turns out to be a real thing, part of me wishes somewhere that it actually turns out to be a little big ass furnace/cooking pot whatever. Still worried the resolution is going to come in one big swoop and fuck everything up. The Himari revelation is nice and all but the writers are treading really dangerous territory. Among other things what Im having a problem with is the whole penguin hat and diary thing really going to the background for a while now for no real reason. They sorta just phased it out and started transitioning to the bigger picture discussing history without actually explaining why we had to listen to that stupid rock and roll song over and over again. Maybe they just decided to order the resolution differently and thats fine as long as its done convincingly.

Uh, if IS was the only mecha you've ever watched, you really need to watch more mecha! Go watch Code Geass, Unicorn, and Evangelion. Watching all of the gundams would help too.

Just to second Nations here, IS is probably not representative of Mecha as Sent will probably tell you lol. Also, add Macross, Tengen Toppan Gurren Lagan and GaoGaiGar to that list.

I try ![]() IS isn't really mecha so much that its a harem with Mecha Musumes. If you don't mind having to wait another year for Unicorn to finish, its a good starting point. Most of the suggestions other people here have made are good shows too. Honestly the only unifying feature of mecha anime is robots of some sort. There is bound to be some sort of mecha show for everyone. So much variety in the genre. As a qualifier to what some other people have said, GaoGaiGar is best summed up with this chart (aka it starts out meh then gets really good), and Getter Robo Armageddon would confuse you if thats your first Getter show.

Perfectly understandable your dislike of Haganai then. It tries to troll generic harem expectations, which is basically exactly what IS is. IS was a mecha show? I didn't know, maybe it turned mecha after ep 5 or so where it was dropped. Bakemono was not even romcom, there may be some comedy but no romance.

Although in IS its more like power armor, but its still considered mecha.

*Puffs up face* ![]() Anyways, my friends been bugging me forever to finish up on Code Geass (im currently on ep 6-7ish). I think Ill finally give that a go since it classifies as a real mecha anime, I was kidding about the IS one btw.. Which brings me to a new topic: my friend is a Code Geass fanboy, he LOVES that anime, he LOVES Lelouch and all that jazz. He always tries to get me to marathon more than 2 eps at a time whenever he has the chance. He keeps telling me that its the type of anime that "once you finish marathoning you wont wanna watch other animes for a while" He even says that the first time he finished it he went on a "depressed" mode for a day. He played a certain CG ED on loop the entire time on his iphone while at work and said that he just felt like doing shit. I told him that the only time I ever felt something like that was when I finished Amagami SS. When the final episode aired I just felt a sort of despair. Like, I put the first OP on loop on my computer and took a long 6 hour nap in the middle of the day cause I didnt wanna go out. It was hard to explain, it was the first real anime that I truly enjoyed and it finished. Anyone else have their stories? Topics like these are the reason why I love anime in the first place. I only got into anime as of Fall 2010, so my knowledge of the really good stuff is very nill.

It had more legitimate romance than the average harem does nowadays. + Show Spoiler [Shana 8] + Wow this episode was really good. So many strong characters now. I laughed when Shana was wondering why her "most powerful unrestricted spell" didn't work. Needs more tsun so the dere is more powerful, obviously.

While catching up on Madoka I needed to take a break after one of the Eps. 5cm per Second was touching too. Final Ep of K-On!! (S2) made me remember my own graduation. Clannad is Clannad. I teared up a little in Fullmetal Alchemist when + Show Spoiler + Hughes was being buried and his daughter was going "Mommy, why are they burying daddy? Why, why?" On a different note, FLCL just melted my mind. Although, I dunno how intellectual my opinion is because I also felt sad in ZnT though when + Show Spoiler + Tabitha got kidnapped. So yeah. Ojous.

If you watched it, you would understand, if you didn't, saying why is a huge spoiler. I'm pretty much like that Code Geass fanboy. At the time of watching CG this spring, I considered it the first "real" anime that I watched, real meaning I watched it knowing it was an anime. The only other anime I had ever watched before were eng Pokemon, eng Digimon, 1 episode of Gundam Seed (my friends and I were creeped out by the "naked" silhouettes in the OP, this being in like 6th grade), and Overman King Gainer (thought this was just a regular TV show). Basically, Code Geass brought me into anime, and I'm not sure whether I regret it or not. To me, Code Geass became the anime that I compared every other anime too. The first time I watched it was in Eng DUB, which proved to be essential to me standing up Code Geass on a pedestal above all others since I could listen to the voices, watch the scenes playing (I was a slow sub reader), and listen to the OST. Code Geass is my favorite anime of all time (take that, Taylor Swi-wait what?), and I recommend it to everybody. After watching CG, I got the 4 OSTs and played them nonstop, especially "Madder Sky (just because of all of the memories behind this song)". Code Geass, to me, was the best anime mankind had ever created. I cried, laughed, and shared happy memories with this anime. I've watched CG twice, and plan to finally watch it in eng sub. I just fell in love with Code Geass, and it took a while for me to watch any other anime. Now that I look back, I have to say that it probably isn't the best anime of all time, but it is my favorite anime of all time. For my 1k post, I'll probably do something about Code Geass. I think you should watch it btw. Every time I went to a XC meet, had to do some big project or assignment, I listened to these songs and I was completely pumped up.

Well most of those animes listed are the types to make you sad or depressed in a direct sort of way. But Im talking about when you have that despair feeling after finishing a anime thats not even sad or depressing or nostalgic, the type of feeling that you cant explain. Maybe im trying to touch base on something like "the anime was so good that now that its finally finished I have nothing else to look forward to" Something along those lines. Sad, I know. >_>
