THERE IS A WORLD I WANT TO PROTECT! Un-Go was ok, but not really that good. Isn't it kinda premature to say "all the characters suck" after having only watched a single episode? Pretty much ONLY the main character and that girl have gotten any meaningful screen time as of yet, other than the dude who established himself as a guy who beasts people for free. Its also painfully obvious that the main character is going to change and develop as the anime progresses. Its like saying Amuro sucks as a character because of Gundam episode 1. Way too early to pass judgment. On another note, in my rewatch of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, I've gotten up to episode 81... I don't know if I want to keep going. I know whats coming. Fuckkkkkk. Maybe it will change this time...! But that's what I said back at episode 26 as well... :< | ||

The music was amazing and the opening sequence was very very well done and in a very different directorial direction than any anime that I've ever seen. I don't see how you can levy the complaints that all the characters suck seeing as how the episode made it a point to keep everyone's backgrounds as mysterious as possible. The only thing that is clear is that the main character is just "an everyday kind of guy" and his attraction to Inori is driving him to do some crazy things. And he's clearly special in more ways than one because he is already known to the rebel organization and the scientist who is watching from above as well. Sure the show might not win in the originality department, but it wraps things up in a far more cohesive package than most shows. It does make me sort of feel that this is what Code Geass was meant to be. A weak male protagonist promises development throughout the series, the said protagonist also doesn't interest anyone until he does so. Maybe the first few times we see them we would be like oh, cool, development. But by now? It gets pretty boring and they never do anything particularly interesting. There are other works that manage to get away with them, and maybe Guilty Crown can at some point. Just that at this point, this MC seems pretty badly made. If you are known to the resistance organization, whatever it is. If you have flashbacks to random somethings. If you talk about how you can't fit in with other people. I am sorry, that doesn't make you anywhere near an "everyday kind of guy". That makes you the typical shounen anime protagonist who will have his powers unleashed at a convenient chance. The amount of flashbacks and such that he has is just obviously leading to obvious developments. At the very least the power of Geass was presented in an interesting fashion and we didn't get heavyhanded foreshadowing, so the pacing was a lot better too. This was just average male MC + average development wrapped in good music, good animation quality and a really awkward transition of scenes (thanks Mono, can't unsee). Originality would be nice, but in general the way that GC was packaged for this first episode was pretty disappointing even when discounting that. Maybe the standards are just getting set too high from F/Z getting away with a talking episode ep1 and still managed to be damned good, but really, GC at the moment falls at the area between average and meh. It is bland, until the series manage to present something I couldn't get in other series like Seitokai no Ichizon and BakaTest, or present it in a good enough fashion for me to care, it just doesn't stand out. That and I've developed a hate for that series because of relative focus on Sena over Yozora, Fuck bitching about writers when you can just hate the series instead. | ||

On this page, after people have watched GC, people are hating on it. It isn't so much that people's opinions are different, it is just that the actual product couldn't live up anywhere near the hype. | ||
