I guess id be interested in an anime with more romance in it cause im feeling soppy like that Megacuteness moe romance = suggestions Clannad is first choice, but it's kind of sad too. Kanon would be 2nd. Aishiteruze Baby, Skip Beat! and Honey and Clover are some others.

You, good sir, are a mind reader.
I don't really know if this falls under the same category, but I liked 'ef ~ a tale of memories' as well, for romance type series.

Lol damn I forgot ef ~ a tale of memories. I'd recommend the visual novel though... if you can understand Japanese to an extent. It is 18+, but that's okay... right?
Hayate... pfft. Not my kind of anime.

Lol yeah whats the after story thing? Does it continue on from after clannad finishes or smth
Isn't that the kind of visual novel where the h-scenes at the end are completely optional to the rest of the story

Isn't that the kind of visual novel where the h-scenes at the end are completely optional to the rest of the story No, Clannad is completely H-Scene free, excluding the Tomoyo After Story arc. After Story is the 2nd half of Clannad basically. It covers Tomoya + Nagisa after their school days are over. It's also a 26 episode anime series.

Here's where I point out that I know more about visual novels than any decent person should:
Of the three main Key visual novels--Air, Kanon, and Clannad--Clannad is the only one that was not initially released as an adult game. There are no risqué pictures at all in it. Hell, Key even said that the focus of the game was on family and not romance, hence the name "Clannad," Irish for "Family." You probably noticed the Irish-sounding background music at points in the anime, which is related.
The way Clannad works is that there are two main "sections" of the game: School Life and After Story. School Life is where Tomoya goes around and ends up with one of several girls in the harem, generic visual novel stuff. After finishing all of those routes (or something like that), you get access to After Story, which covers the life of Tomoya and the girl he ended up with: + Show Spoiler [For those who don't know] +after the School Life portion ends.
In the anime, not all of the School Life arcs had been finished by the end of the original show, so the second season, dubbed "Clannad: After Story" finishes those up, then goes into the actual After Story content. Of course this required some fudging around with the actual plot, and there's a character in the game who doesn't even make an appearance in the anime. But yeah, definitely watch After Story, since the plot really isn't complete without it.

Where does that put me, who would bitch about your lack of inclusion for Little Busters, which I'd say is at least as good as Clannad? Which, btw, also started as only a visual novel, seeing h-content only with last year's release of LB:Ex.
No one cares about the missing character anyway, for good reason I'd nitpick on that it isn't the additional of other route content into the Afterstory season of anime that caused the fudging of the actual plot, but the fact that they are taking something with multiple endings and go into every arc (minus one), but that's probably just bad wording.

Well you know, it turned out great, so I know it doesn't bother me none. I don't know how it stacks up to the VN, but it's good anyways.

This would be because I have no experience whatsoever with Little Busters.
edit: Actually all of my visual novel information comes from wikipedia and the threads for Clannad and After Story on Something Awful. I've never actually played any of them, dun dun dun.

I'm not being sarcastic, but I probably shouldn't play a visual novel where I currently am. My roommate already suspects me of being a pedophile because some of the songs I play on Stepmania have anime background pictures. Oh how exciting it would be if he watched me play Kanon or Clannad! :p

...Same thing happened to me while playing a bunch of Nanoha songs on Stepmania.

It's not just him, though. It's my entire floor (through him), which could be something of an issue if it got any worse. I really wouldn't want the 20-odd people I'm with for the next eight months to think I'm a creepy guy who fucks little girls in his sleep. Which is what most anime fans are to those 20-odd people, as deservingly or undeservingly as that title would be.

If you can't watch anime without being judged, you might as well throw caution to the wind, ignore their opinions, and then find somewhere else to live as soon as possible Not being able to do stuff that you think is fun in your free time is basically the worst thing that can happen. + Show Spoiler +Assuming that your life doesn't have any major disasters occurring so that you actually -have- ample free time. :x

Being isolated and looked down upon by society by a simple misunderstanding is the worst thing that can happen.

Put that way, it makes my suggestion sound completely idiotic and not well thought out. ._.
Well then, setting that to the side, if you're worried about your roommate's negative opinion, try convincing him otherwise or something.
(When I was in the dorms @ college, if I hadn't been able to do the things I liked (watch anime, play games), I would've snapped. Since my roommate was cool with it, being in the dorms for those years was amazingly fun. So I'd just recommend to try to find a way to do what you like without worrying. If that involves ignoring their opinions, that works. If they come around to see your point of view and don't judge you, that's obviously better.)
+ Show Spoiler +so my advice sucks i'm sorry >_>
