This arc is a wink towards Fairy Tail, with "Lucy", "Scarlett" and the fairies themselves. I don't want the arc to come to a quick conclusion, I just dont want basically useless filler to be the reason why it's dragged on. We will have to agree to disagree about the dwarves, I have absolute no interest in them and just find them more annoying then anything personally. But to each their own.
Wow I never even thought about that connection with Fairy Tail before lol but I guess that does make sense.

The bigger thing at hand is the fact that usopp has befriended most giants they've run into and the dwarfs. Its to show that everything from big to small is backing him up. Not to mention the dwarfs are botanists and can grow anything, they'll get some random seeds from usopp somehow and develop new weapons and use them later on when usopp gets his army. They were also useful in drawing the similarities between norland and usopp. They also needed a local resistance to help fuel the fire for this entire war instead of just going to a new place and smashing the leaders in because they don't agree with them. They help validate that theres a pure side to dressrosa and the people need help.
I agree with this point about needing a local resistance. One of the key themes I have noticed throughout One Piece is that Luffy and his crew are often fighting against some sort of injustice/intolerance. Which can be seen in pretty much every arc. This is one of the reasons why I love One Piece because I think it speaks to many important social issues of power, control, oppression, and intolerance. The whole struggle between the celestial dragon and the revolutionaries is an example of this. They are a group of people who have been born into power an oppress the poor and disadvantaged. I believe that when we see oppression and hatred that people of sound conscience must fight against it and Luffy with his passion and sense of justice along with all of his other qualities and traits represents this sentiment.

Destroying Doflamingo with power of friendship!

am i the only one getting really dissapointed with this entire arc? It started well but then it went completely downhill from there and we hit rock bottom now can it even go lower?

If you could enlighten us with arguments maybe

I didn't really care that much about the dwarves but I actually loved the last chapter. One Piece is so good even when it's some sidestory filler, that's why it's different to every other shonen.
Whoever wants to see the top 3-4 of the good guys fight, you can watch pretty much any other (worse) series.

Yes, you are..
Are you high or something? This arc is pure insanity. Nice big flashback to the Jaya Arc (Norland and Bellamy both come from that arc), fairies which are hilarious, awesome fights and a pirate alliance, Sabo, etc..
This arc is golden.

Yeah this arc has been awesome! I mean it has given us God-Usopp, Senõr Pink and epic doffy and law story.

You might say this arc is... hard-boiled.

It's a good arc just it has too much going on.

I honestly think if Oda just cut out a portion of the dwarves, not all of it but keep them to a smaller role then they already are. And lessened a bit here and there it would be perfect imo. Right now it just feels slightly bogged down with everything happening, a bit of trimming on the lesser storylines that most people don't care about and this would probably be one of my all time favourite arcs. Still ranks very highly though obviously.

that's just being far too nit picky >: (

The Dwarves portion is already really small. This past week we had a chapter dedicated to the Dwarves, but previously we haven't seen them play a large role since... Uhhh... when Sugar and Trebol beat them up? Its been a long ass time.

Why is it taking Zoro so long to take down Pika though... that's been bugging me quite a bit.
|
Pika has the ability to leave the stone he morph in to at will. As soon as he sees an counter attack from zoro that his stupidly huge form can't dodge he would just leave that stone body of his and make another one to initiate another attack. The more interesting thing is that Pkia is boa hancock's counter, even if he gets turn into stone he can still freely move about, and with a rock solid boner at that.

Counters her Devil Fruit, at least. I'm sure she'd still wreck him with her Haki.

besides being petrified makes you unconcious since noone who has been petrified remembers it or that time has passed

True him being turned to stone or being petrified is an interesting concept. But I suppose the question would be is, does being turned into stone take away your consciousness because you're made of well, stone. Or is it something in the petrification process that makes you lose consciousness. If it was the latter I think Pika would just like everyone else when it comes to her abilities and he would be able to counter much.

I wish the Dwarves weren't part of this arc. The dwarves haven't been given enough time to be interesting or sentimental despite some interesting DF abilities and a potentially sentimental storyline. So every bit of time they get is getting in the way of the main characters of the arc and the other major players we want to see (final Dressrosa battles, Sanji vs Big Mam's ship, Sabo, Fujitora, Burgess, Aokiji). I would have preferred if the dwarves showed up in a different arc where they could be given the screen time they deserve. They just seem so secondary at best in this arc.
For Dressrosa, I think it would have been much more awesome if it had been Thunder Soldier fighting an impossible battle alone, but doing it for the sake of so many people. It'd almost be like Berserk right after the golden age arc.
As it is, we get a brief introduction to Kanjuro which is okay because we expect him to be major in the next arc and I'm not in a rush for him. We also get the short re-introduction of Sabo which is also okay because we know his part in the story isn't anywhere near done yet. Yet the dwarves are mostly done after this arc. There's still the off chance that one of them will join the crew, but none have been built up enough to deserve it at this point.
I say all of that with the understanding that they will still play a major part in this arc. Can you really imagine an evil genius like Doflamingo capturing a dwarf with magical healing tears and then not keeping a vial for himself (and possibly his top executives)? Even after Luffy knocks the crap out of him, he's going to revive. At that point, it may take Sabo, Fujitora, or Kuzan to scare Doflamingo away. I also wouldn't be shocked if a Straw Hat or a friendly character is gravely wounded, but is revived by the dwarf powers. I just feel like those possible plot points could be handled differently so that the dwarves could get better screen time in a different arc without getting in the way of the major stuff in this arc.

theres just so many things that get half-resolved then moved onto something else before eventually circling back
