I personally would have preferred if the Dwarves fight ended after Sugar got knocked out, skip the princess stuff and save a chapter. I don't mind a slower pace if it's needed, I just feel like the Princess storyline is really forced and rushed. I expect from Oda if he puts a storyline in that it's solid, this side story just seems weak especially compared to the like 20 other solid story lines going on right now.

But of course, Oda is god so hopefully I'll be proven wrong next week and something crazy epic will happen with it and this was necessary to set it up.

Yeah, this chapter felt forced, but I think it still had some nice qualities. For example, I felt like I was reading a child-hood story again, with the prince saving the princess and all. It's kind of nostalgic, and it's really cute to have something so fluffy and light-hearted, so black and white, in the middle of this dark arc.

I think that this arc may simply be too big. With the dozens and dozens of 'named' characters in it, it just takes forever to cover everything so nothing really gets too much depth done on it.

I thought the chapter itself was ok, but the focus has really just been bouncing all over the place lately.

I like this arc, we got to see DD's story, Law's story, the kingdom dark story, Sabo, Maybe Kaidou and BigMum, new admiral, etc..

I think a long arc like this is necessary to wrap up a character like Doflamingo. Doffy has been hyped up for what, 600 chapters? A character like this deserves a huge sendoff. However, I feel like the dwarves could have been cut entirely. That, or their role could have been greatly diminished. They feel like fluff when compared to the other crazy shit going on. A lot of people don't respect the dwarves and find them annoying, weak and inconsequential and I think the reason for that is that they do not meld well with this arc. They would have been better replaced with a Dressrosa rebellion faction. Full sized humans that are capable of being more than comic relief.

Weren't dwarves foreshadowed in an earlier chapter though? I think in Sabaody Archipelago they are mentioned as being sold as slaves. You know once that happens they are going to get worked in somehow. I think they are fine in this chapter. You realize it's at least somewhat meant for young boys, so you can't be serious all the time either.

Yea, there was a list of how much each race sold for when they were talking about how much mermaids were. Still have to find out about lizard necks and minkmen according to that list.

The bigger thing at hand is the fact that usopp has befriended most giants they've run into and the dwarfs. Its to show that everything from big to small is backing him up. Not to mention the dwarfs are botanists and can grow anything, they'll get some random seeds from usopp somehow and develop new weapons and use them later on when usopp gets his army. They were also useful in drawing the similarities between norland and usopp. They also needed a local resistance to help fuel the fire for this entire war instead of just going to a new place and smashing the leaders in because they don't agree with them. They help validate that theres a pure side to dressrosa and the people need help.

The power of the princess just shows how well prepared Mingo is. Guy is such a major player on so many fronts and one of the most dangerous villains in OP.

About Mansherry's power, wouldn't it have made a better plot point if Kyros had killed or mortally wounded Donflamingo and then Mansherry revived him. It would have added more relevance to her instead a back up plan that failed. It might have made her a second "Sugar" character that needed to be neutralized, this time by being saved. Plus I didn't really like the string clone ability saving DD, it still seems too much of a stretch for his DF. If it was just a string puppet that he controlled sure, but it was a perfect clone that nobody could tell wasn't DD not just a mass of strings.

Maybe a string clone was a bit weird for his fruit, but Doflamingo is such a big player that being even wounded by someone like Kyros (who's good, but not at that level) would make for a bad plot. So having Dofla get wounded and saved sounds even worse to me.

I'm 1000% fine with the Dwarves and I want to see more of them in the future. I'm sorry but they're just really interesting and I'm not interested either in seeing the story come to a quick conclusion. So it's great, imo.

This arc is a wink towards Fairy Tail, with "Lucy", "Scarlett" and the fairies themselves.
