I think the user has to be alive and not in control of their power, kind of like in a comma state, you aren't dead but you aren't conscious either. your examples dosn't realy match thou. knocking either ceaser or wb out wouldn't cancel the damage already done from the earthquake or make the monster disepear

theres trevol right next to her, if Robin tried trevol would block

It worked that way with decken when he threw noa. Once he hit his head and passed out the effect wore off. Its probably fruit by fruit based.

The Straw Hats don't assassinate people. So Robin doesn't do that anymore either. Do you guys really think that a ruthless killer would fit in with Luffy's crew?
If they did, Robin wouldn't be part of the Straw Hats, because they would have murdered her along with the Franky family.
edit: wow this sounds kind of aggressive. I was in a rush. What I wanted to get to is that not killing people is part of what the straw hats do. Killing people in cold blood would maybe be enough for Luffy to kick someone out of the crew. You know, not everyone likes to live with murderers.

Yea these are bad examples, but I mean killing people. We have never seen someone get killed and their power run out. Like Moria was knocked out. We don't know if they killed him if the shadows would of returned. I mean i guess this is hard to proof since we have seen very little death in one piece. But I think its having to do with something like being a coma not dead but just not conscious.

Does anyone else think Trebol and Sugar reminds them of Humbert Humbert and Lolita?

It would be silly if unconsciousness temporarily turns off the power while death makes people affected by the power cease to exist/die. Because it sounds rather silly when you read it like that, right?

Hey wait, that contract..
How is Mr Soldier able to disobey? He's the only toy to do so. "Don't hurt humans" and "Bow to the orders of the DD family". How does he circumvent the contract?
The only alternative I can think of is Viola remembering who Soldier is and then Viola (being a member of the DD family) "ordered" him to break the contract or something. However, this theory is unlikely as Viola should not remember who Mr Soldier is.
So this means that Soldier found a hole in the Sugar's devil fruit. There must be some sort of limitation to this hole or he might have told the other toys how to be free.
Something is fishy here.

The fact that many named characters were turned into toys means that their plan will very likely to success, either SH becomes the heroes that release all the named characters or this will become the 'debut show' of sabo.
Anyway, amazing chapter, oda sama story telling skill is so steady at this stage. Wonder what can that sticky dude do lol kinda similar to that mud(?) guy from fishman island arc.

Was Burgess' armor his own or just stuff that he picked up from the Colosseum? I know the belt and others were his but was his shoulder stuff?

Good question. Maybe he was like Luffy and just loved dressing up.

For me it would make a large difference in how I viewed their clash depending on whether it was his personal stuff or random Colosseum trash.

The toys themselves know who they are though they might not know who the other toys are and the humans might not know who the toys are but Violet's ability can figure out what the person turned into knows which would include who they are. As to how soldier can fight back. I think after viola told him who he was he was able to do it on his own.
We have seen a toy get thrown into the garbage chute that was claiming to be a human. http://www.batoto.net/read/_/189027/one-piece_ch717_by_powermanga/11 So he was obviously resisting the contract and was also able to recall who his girl friend was and even what her name was.
The contract is resistable maybe you just need alot of willpower to resist it.
