One Piece does still have killing but it is rare and the series has a ceiling in the amount of gore it allows onscreen. A swordsman in One Piece will never be able to dismember someone with a sword slash (not counting DF physics) because Oda would not be able to show the character anymore realistically as they should be bleeding a lot. Which is why we get the random slashes, blood spurts and *argh" into fainting. Law and Zoro can't kill with sword slashes on screen so Law cutting Vergo with his DF and leaving him to "die" is as much as we're going to get. Of course there is no guarantee he is even going to die he might just haki the explosion in all of his body parts since body parts can still fight and think apparently.

I meant more like capture for any significant period of time. Nobody really gets killed in OP. I also think Vergo will survive - dunno if he can coa all his different body parts during the explosion and then put himself back together slowly. Luffy seems confident about punching shinokuni using haki, so why wouldn't vergo be able to shield himself from both an explosion and shinokuni with full body haki armor...
Unless, of course, Luffy's arms turn to stone as soon as he packs CC
