My guess is the space space fruit, that allows him to take control of space  nm just checked the one piece wiki, it says it's opa opa no mi, operation fruit. WTF? | ||

Oda himself actually confirmed it was in fact canon (well he confirmed it was originally meant to be canon anyway). Unless he contradicts this somehow in the manga, the movie is in fact canon. They can't just go "lol not manga, not canon". | ||
