I like how people say "What roles are left to fill?" and then say "Jinbei - Fishman" like that's a "role".
Roles aren't what gets a Strawhat a job on the ship, it's almost completely based on how much Luffy likes them. It was convenient that Chopper was a doctor, but in the words of Luffy "7 forms". Robin being an archaeologist isn't a role, her role is actually more of a story role than a positional role. Brook was interesting before he was a musician.
The further we get into One Piece the less roles matter, they only did at the beginning where Luffy needed people who could take care of all the actual essentials of travel. As it is, the Strawhat crew is self sufficient thus far. There is nothing they lack for.
Does this mean there are no more crew members? Hell no. Jimbei is the perfect example as, even though he's not on the ship, it's heavily hinted he'll be joining later.
...after all that I don't think the Samurai fits. He's after his kid right? If he's a single father to his child or even married the chances of him becoming a pirate is low. I see the Samurai as a introduction to the country of wano. Strawhats will make nice with him, he'll go his own way and then in 217 chapters appear again and everyone will go "=O!"

Giant - Many crews have a giant, could luffy find one? or could we see the return of weakyoshi with full control of her power?
Cannoneer/Grenadier - someone who uses explosives? often there was a gunpowder expert on board ship, since Usopp is all plants now, this could be open.
Scout - maybe someone with exceptional vision, and perhaps super speed but not as strong?
Spy - An expert in camouflage and gaining information in sneaky ways
Tailor - perhaps silly, but someone who works on clothes/sails etc would be unique, and give the crew free costume changes and probably some good chances for humor as well.
You can take the time to shoot them all down if you want, I probably won't care to answer though, but I'm interested to see what other people might come up with. What other roles are left? Franky's a giant mecha robot... I think Cannoneer/ Grenadier is taken. What the Strawhat Crew needs now is a Logia user

There are a ton of characters in OP that are supporting characters or are in there for plot. During the Baroque works arc there were so many people other than robin that could have been in the crew. They got no one from the sky island arc. Think about how many years it took to get to where we are now... 15 YEARS. We have 9 members after 15 years, give it some damn time. Not arcs, or months, give it years.
He still needs alot of people with their own ship to help him out as pirate king. The big players in OP can get people on their side through fear or respect, we know hes going to use respect. So the samurai won't join his crew, but at the end of this he'll get the help of more people which is what he does everywhere he goes. Not only that but its going to open up a new arc after this, it'll probly be just like the baroque works arc where the samurai joins them for a little bit until they get back to his home island.

im just surprised how did trafalgar law get inside the building? unless hes associated with those workers which would be surprising since you'd assume he would then be the one they call master...

The thing is, it has been years. It's been roughly 4 years since Brook joined so it's no wonder why so many people are expecting a new member. That argument may have worked 2-3 years ago but honestly, they're overdue for a new member. Sadly, I don't see a new member coming out of this arc (not samurai for reasons mentioned by others). I feel like this arc will be fairly short with Law-Smoker-Luffy interactions followed by an escape by the Strawhats; however, Oda always manages to surprise me so we will see.

Jinbe being a fishman is more of a role in terms of the story, rather than a job. Obviously "fishman" isn't a job or anything like that, but in terms of the story, it sets him apart and gives him his own niche.

A female ninja who is also a tailor and that comes from the same land that samurai guy came from.

Cannoneer/Grenadier - Overlaps with Usopp and Franky
Scout - Overlaps with Usopp
Spy - Overlaps with Robin

he's associated with them in some way or another. thats why mr samurai is chopped up and also why the dragon asked if they were allies of the shichibukai

Well that is true. Oda had the whole 'first half' to consolidate the Straw Hat Pirates that everyone now loves.

i was a bit confused by law coming out after the boss saying he wouldnt come out.
buggy being the boss could be a possibility? especially with the samurai being cut into pieces and still being alive
and maybe law is using buggy (told him he could be boss) so he can do experiments? cutting things apart and putting them back together (like with the centaur?)
idk, whenever it seems like it might be one thing oda makes it something completely different.

Just because he isnt the boss doesnt mean that he is the subordinate, they could be cooperating for all we know ?

Does anyone knows where I can find some site/text that describes the whole One Piece story so far? I used to watch/read it everyday 2-3 years ago. And now I just don't have the time to catch up!

I do admit that Jinbe is... a close friend of theirs - but honestly I can't see how he would fit.
If you look at all the jokes and comedic things they do - it just doesn't fit Jinbe. Sure, you can argue that Zoro doesn't join in, but that's because his usually the butt or the stem of the joke; if you get what I mean?
Like I can't see him fitting in well, but then again they do need another mature person like Robin...

Should just go back to where you were upto and read it at your own pace, will enjoy it much more!
