Ha, that's only because Bardock was introduced too early, back when Frieza was the strongest being in the universe and Super Saiyan 1 was the absolute pinnacle of power. If Bardock was introduced now with Super Saiyan God or whatever, you can bet your ass he'd be some ancient god with a power level of 10 quadrillion or something.

Gohan is clearly more talented, but he keeps falling behind because he'd rather study physics or mack on Video.

If it was for the weebs who like One Piece you'd think they'd do whatever they can to replicate the manga/anime exactly to appease us. If it isn't for us, why bother making it in the first place. The name itself will only get so many views. They've seen it happen with Cowboy Bebop & Death Note. A bad adaption gets horrible reviews and cancellation.

We've seen Luffy beat Kaido and now we're gonna watch him fight Buggy? These decisions are downright odd. Seems to me like Oda just wants to get it over, considering how long it has been in the making.

IMO Oda and almost everyone who is a One Piece fan is actually more a fan of the early parts of the series. Arlong Park, Alabasta, Enis Lobbie, Impel Down (I deny the dirty Marineford lovers, but they exist) are the core of who actually love the series. And they are like that because they are so tight. There is a real opportunity to satisfy the super fans with this show, after all, East Blue is 100 chapters, 1/3 the chapters of Dressrosa alone. But it could also entice new fans because the anime itself, as it exists, is obviously unwatchable for new fans. Old episodes have poor animation. New episodes have horrendous pace.

Ultimately, I'm talking about the big picture. Based on the episode names, the first season will end with the Arlong Park arc. So the question is - they've spent years upon years just to conjure up like 1/30th of the story up until now. What's the future of the live action series? I just feel like they're making it just for the sake of it. Are they looking to boost the popularity of the OP brand via Netflix?

Then you get some okay ones like X:Men or a rare good one like some of the Batman adaptations. Finally, they hit it big with the whole Avengers and Marvel cinematic universe. Comic books are just western manga. Animes are proven properties with built-in fan bases. Would anyone even talk about a new media property where pirates have silly magical abilities? Probably not, it would probably never be produced. But when it's One Piece, it gets buzz. I believe some of the slice of life animes/manga have some decent live action adaptations in Japan, although I've never personally seen one. Alita: Battle Angel didn't get critically panned.
