aokiji will probably defect when the situation suits him. as for cross guild, i think this plotline is only mildly interesting because of mihawk and crocodile also. tbh i dont really see the significance of having this party become another factor in the search for one piece atm. what usage is there for this party as a plot device that other characters cannot already fulfil? | ||

Oda needs to find a way to set up Zoro vs Mihawk. I think that's the only reason this is being written. Crocodile isn't interesting either, he's not a serious antagonist at this point and the character offers little we haven't yet explored. | ||

imo this was one of the most memorable chapters in a long time because it really highlights just how powerful the central theme is in the story. Mihawk and Crocodile, two of the most powerful characters in the world/story if you look carefully are pissed that they're rightfully called out by Buggy as being jaded (losers) and unable to have big ambitions anymore; they recognized immediately how powerful and moving that common dream is. Even Buggy's crew of the worst criminals are taken aback by Buggy announcing he wants to obtain the One Piece. When you look at Blackbeard and Aokiji there's a very telling line where Blackbeard explains that none of their crew has any motivation to help each other achieve their own dreams. They're all only there because it meets their incentives; it's a great continuing contrast between Luffy and Blackbeard where they have a lot in common but very important differences in how they view the world. | ||

I think its kind of a great line to tie in Buggy through, someone else brought up the last poneglyph, if Captain John's treasure included poneglyph rubbing that'd be pretty sweet and lines up Buggy to pursue One Piece given hes already spent a bunch of time chasing this treasure and really should be fairly close to acquiring it by now lol. He'll probably stumble on due to his idiot's luck though, which would also be amusing. | ||

I could get onboard a luck roller thingy, but Buggy is not that. He gets smashed anytime anyone tries. Its not like Luffy shoved him to a diamond mine and then he stumbled upon a laser factory. | ||

That said, I'm super excited about seeing what happened between Cobra and the Gorosei. Maybe even Imu makes a cameo. The next chapter is probably going to be amazing. | ||

I'm guessing that in this world of big shots and hardasses most guys are just regular joes, and Buggy certainly is one of them, making him relatable. Personally I see Buggy and his ambitions as a fresh vehicle to move the plot forward; like someone posted here earlier, I think he's the one to indirectly set up Zoro vs. Mihawk. | ||

Who knows how powerful they end up but makes sense the Gorosei would have some heavy hitters in reserve for their personal use. I thought that role was going to be CP0 but none of them seem to be that special. I read they got name dropped quite a while back too in some throw away line. Realistically the Vice Admirals besides Garp are fodder. WG power is pretty heavily concentrated in very few people so if Oda wants to start a global conflict the WG will need more just to have a relevant threat at different places. Especially if Egghead goes poorly for them so they don't get their clone toys to use. | ||

The Marines just happen to be the military branch of that government. As you said, it makes sense for CP0 to be the "heavy hitters" of the WG since they're basically the CIA. But doesn't really make sense for there to be 9 random super powerful fighters that act as a defacto military. Either they should already be part of the Marines or they should be PMCs and Mercenaries that perform wet work for the world nobles (aka the Shichibukai and CP0). To come out of left field and create an entirely new faction from thin air is just bad writing. | ||
