Ya, there is for sure some asspull-ness to it all. Like, in original Romance Dawn I think one of Shank's crew didn't believe or know about devil fruits? And that'd be impossible for a Yonko. Also there is some schennangians because I think they kinda had to justify, what was this Yonko planning to do with the fruit? Like, it HAD to have been a very important fruit if it was just chillin on a yonko's ship?
I hate it, but I don't think it is asspully....but it is a consequence of having to retrofit Shank's international importance into Romance Dawn which was a much smaller world.

That would be surprising because Brannew in CH 957 calls him, "A six year member of the emperor class." or in another translation, "An emperor for six years."
