Those positions will be significant. Considering it will be top positions within the allegiance of both Kaido* and bigmom. 2 of the 4 yonko joining together now with their titles recognized equates to basically being the strongest force in one piece. (As far as influence in the one piece world goes)

Being division commanders that probably serve directly under them is a huge thing.

Idk it just seems kinda weird to me. Like what do the All Stars get that the Flying Six don't? They get all the food, booze, and women they want, clearly. They probably already have Devil Fruits of their own or don't want one. It's not like they get better work assignments since we've seen Jack do bitch work for Kaido in Zou. They're already commanders since it seems like even lowly headliners can command forces as they see fit. They're already part of one of the strongest governments in existence so no one can really mess with them. If they were motivated by glory then I doubt they would be serving Kaido in the first place since history rarely ever remembers the #2 or #3 of a movement. And it's not like they'll take over the crew if Kaido dies since they wouldn't be able to live up to his strength. Kaido is only a Yonko because he's an unkillable monster. King, Queen, or Jack wouldn't be able to replace him because if the Marine Admirals or other Yonkos came knocking then they would get destroyed. And if one of the Flying Six was actually strong enough to replace Kaido then why would he even care about his position in the crew? Why not form his own crew?

The reason I'm curious is because it seems like Kaido can just order them to do anything he wants if he just dangles an "All Star" position in front of their face. It seems like a major cop out for Oda to essentially not create any proper motivations for his characters and just say "uhhh they wanna be All Stars because... reasons."

Yeah it's kind of odd. In real life people want to climb a heirachy due to the benefits given from being raised in rank, but the Flying six could refuse summons from the All stars and are beholden to Kaido solely, which appears to be no different from being an All star, except presumably in terms of prestige for no apparent reason. It makes sense for the marines wanting to be raised in rank as presumably they get a higher salary as part of a higher government job, but what is payment structure of kaido's crew? Do they suddenly get the rights to command, when far weaker and lower status crew in kaido's crew have that already? It feels forced.

Agree and what's worse is that he went so far to create this card game theme with Kaido's crew, making all the names of characters fit.even as far as Doflamingo named Joker being kind of a stand alone agent working for him and now he introduces a story element to break that theme. If he wants to weaken the allstars through exhaustion/wounds to make it more believeable that they can be beaten by the scabbards or whoeever ends up fighting them, he didnt have to go through such lengths to make them feel overpowered to begin with.

Feels like the all stars are potential head liners. They very obviously have less authority and power then the leads judging by how King was talking to them. Maybe they aren't full crew members yet because they were captains before being absorbed in.

I mean they were bitching about being told to sit around and wait. They aren't exactly the top of the food chain.

It's more of the way Oda seems to be stressing the right to challenge the Allstars, even though it was King who wanted to summon them, but got Kaido to summon them - for them to do something Kaido wanted to do? Strange. Oda spends a lot of time on the internal structure of the Beast Pirates (gifters, pleasers, waiters, headliners, flying six, allstars- wtf they seem to have more ranks than the marines?), but the flying six just seems to pop out of nowhere, like they were just brought out as throwaway characters to be beaten up to prove how much more powerful another group is. Doflamingo's family was introduced in a much more organic way.

Of course the important takeaway from the chapter is that Kaido has a son, who presumably is to be wedded to one of Big Mom's daughter to cement the alliance, who will probably run away from the marriage and get rescued by the strawhats like Sangi 2.0, but discussing that is way more boring.

Smart pirates are rare. Most just want to be powerful want to fight and beat up people get wasted & sail the seas. It is lackluster from Oda but I mean not unplausible.

Like in real life some X footballer would wear a different colored shirt and fly to the other part of the world to be like one better off play 2 more games. They hit each other or get mad at each other because someone else wants to shoot the penalty ball & etc.

I think that's even more stupid than what is happening here. They just hate each other's guts probably old guard vs. new guard dynamics, and they all look forward for setup that pits them against each other.

Marines actually have three best dental. Check out Candre and Andre. Both are twin brothers but one is a marine with beautiful teeth and the other is a pirate who probably needs dentures. Exact same genetics, just two different dental plans.

What if a Yonko was the only person powerful enough to create a centralised government for a healthcare system? Afterall this is a world where people get stronger by fighting and get stronger from near death experiences. Surely the best way to maximise both is with a government backed healthcare system that can guarantee the best medical care to recover from injuries?

Actually the state of medical advances is, like many sciences in One Piece is really bizarre. Ignoring the magic as technology aspects in One Piece there appears to be modern world knowledge, complete with IV infusions; the only thing missing from the modern world are electricity based advances like MIR scanners and X-rays and suchlike. The surgical practice is modern, seemingly able to stitch back limbs, connecting nerves and setting bones. Or applying foreign animal donator organs without being rejected by the host which is beyond modern medical knowledge. Other than electrical equipment, their equipment is modern, which shouldn't be possible with the material and metallurgical knowledge of one piece.

Yeah we started off in Victorian times with flintlocks and sailboats and now we have machine guns, submarines, cyborgs, and flat screen TVs. If you don't wanna handwave it off as just rule of cool then I suppose you could justify it as Vegapunk driving the scientific revolution. It doesn't really affect the One Piece world as much as it should since technology is extremely nerfed, i.e., guns not doing shit, steel getting sliced with haki, devil fruit magic existing, etc...

Percussion rifles and steamboats existed before the Victorian age. Just saying.

Guns and ships in One Piece are the prime examples of the wierd level of technology in One Piece. For guns, most guns appear to be napoleonic era muskets, only that nobody ever seem to load the damn things. In fact both pistols and muskets seem capable of being fired without being loaded or reloaded. Of course this is a world where these bullets cannot damage Luffy somehow. At the same time modern sniper rifles seem to exist.

Meanwhile, ship building technology is also stuck in the napoleonic ages, made of wood, only that the Marine battleships are bigger than WW2 battleships, which suggest some sort of internal iron reinforcements as it isn't possible to go that much longer than 50m before a wooden ship breaks itself apart. Which makes the lack of ironclad ship mysterious, and the lack of a steam engine in said battleship mysterious as steam powered ships existed in the napoleonic era. The existence of these massive marine battleships complete self rotating turrets suggest a high level of mechanical propulsion (how do the turrets even move without steam power) and material technology that isn't reflected anywhere else, including the non-explosive cannonballs. But gas masks exist. Also lasers and intelligent autonomous walking robots in a world without electricity. Just who is hoarding all the good technology? One wonders if Holy Land Mary Geoise is full of glass skyscrapers and all the world nobles are driving electric cars and travel with jet planes and speak to each other with smartphones.

One example off the top of my head was Impel Down had camera snails setup around the complex, that the guards would view and keep an eye on in their guard room.
