However, its definitely not better than FMA IMO. I wish it would focus more on adventure and store instead of fighting like FMA did.
You are only at chapter 130. As far as I am concerned, everything prior to chapter 154 is the world's longest prologue. The Alabasta saga starts at chapter 154. From that point and onward, One Piece becomes an extremely unique manga of the greatest epic proportion. The art improves gradually from that point as well (opposite of Naruto's gradual degradation).

I'm really curious what her abilities might be since she appears to be so sloth-like (fat and lazy). on top of that, luffy's declaration was both refreshing and nostalgic. She eats people. And made mention about her stomach acids like 3 times. Pretty sure it's something to do with melting shit.

Maybe she eats them and then regurgitates them into acid monsters that fight for her.

Not going to lie, this chapter made One Piece simply the best manga in the recent three-four weeks of reading manga releases.
I hope the next arc is the Big Mom vs Luffy arc. Ahhh... how one can dream.

I'm so exited to see Big Mom in action AAAANNNNNDD Luffy get facerolled. He killed the fishman guys so easily and now he is about to fight one of the strongest people on earth. If he wins against Big Mom it's probably time to ask myself why I should bother reading it since he is obviously on the same level as a Yonkou. So it's more a question of time and not if he will be able to beat Blackbeard and the Marine... Would be a massive bonerkill if he could already take down a Yonkou by himself.

I'm excited to see the outcome of Luffy and Big Mam's inevitable showdown. I have a feeling that they will become allies, as judging by the conversation they had over the phone, I got the sense that Big Mam seems very interested in Luffy, and wants to see if he's got what it takes to survive in the New World.

Luffy was training with rayleigh for almost two years. I dont see why he couldnt be insanely strong already. And blackbeard is a whole nother league with his two+ very special devil fruits, compared to being so big that you can eat and digest your enemies...

Even if she is the weakest... a guy (even if it's the mainchar) shouldn't be able to put a real fight to a yonkou. Because even if she is the weakest... Luffy won't have a problem against anything except maybe admirals, other yonkous and some (but definitely not all) of the 7 shichibukai from there on (ok and maybe some random chars we never saw in the manga until now). That's boring considering One Piece is only about half way through. I don't want a mainchar to win against everything just because he is the mainchar. I want it to be close and with a good mix of wins and losses... even with total losses! And I really hope Oda makes it like that, so we viewers have some more stuff to be excited about and question ourselfes "HOW CAN LUFFY POSSIBLY WIN THIS?!". I don't want it to be like Naruto where he always wins and defeats stuff nobody defeated before just because he is freakin Naruto and learns techniques nobody ever mastered before in like 3 days... wtf. ^^ I hope you can follow my thoughts xD

The generation shift has been in this manga from the very start.

I'm sure there will be more losses. They already lost a lot of times throughout the series.

Surprised no one mentioned that Oda did the sunglasses meme in reverse. Trolling as usual. + Show Spoiler +
It makes sense for Luffy to call out Big Mama. He's never been subtle when dealing with other people, especially with stuff he doesn't agree with. He's been saying he would be Pirate King since he was a little kid and didn't have the strength to accomplish it at that time. It's hard to say if Oda will have Luffy beat Big Mama (soon) or not, though I'd wager chances are high.
There's four emperors, one of which he'll barely fight, if at all (Shanks). Taking out Big Mama would only leave two, one of which being Blackbeard. The four emperors have been hyped as the New World's big powers for quite some time. Luffy has to deal with them on the way to becoming Pirate King (likely eventually becoming one, as hinted by the turf statement, and then finally surpassing to King status). A couple supernovas will probably be tossed in here and there to space it out, as well as random island adventures.
There were 7 Warlords in the first half of the Grand line as the 'strong power' (sans Marines, who'll likely stay relevant in New World to an extent). Luffy only really fought three of 'em (Crocodile, Moria, Kuma) and met/talked to the others (aside from Flamingo) in some other way. Three emperors to fight (+ possible replacement emperors) could provide enough 'main story' people to fight. Luffy did beat Crocodile more less immediately after entering the Grand Line. Was an island or two on the way, but the Crocodile arc started pretty much upon Grand Line arrival. Would make sense to not backload fighting all the Emperors to the later half of the New World and instead spread them out.
Beating one of the four emperors would kinda put him on a "you don't stand a chance against Luffy unless you're on this small list of world's most powerful." However, Luffy beating Crocodile (at the time the Warlords were kinda hyped up as well), and later Moria, didn't really give the feeling of 'Warlord down, rest of Grand Line is ezpz' to the manga. And of course there's the mentioned "she could be weaker than the other emperors" possibility. Warlords certainly aren't all equal strength (insert standard Warlord Buggy speculation here).

Luffy is most likely getting set up to fight Big Mom. And in the end, Luffy is going to beat her. My theory is that we are going to get an arc similar to what we had back with Baroque Works and Crocodile. I highly suspect the next couple of chapters will be Luffy going to a few islands, and having increasingly difficult battles vs Big Mom's subordinates and maybe another random guy here or there. Then, Luffy finally gets to that Cake Island, and battles Big Mom there. So people who are afraid of Luffy just defeating a Yonkou right off the bat shouldn't worry. This is Oda we are talking about. Gotta trust this guy, he doesn't disappoint. Luffy didn't defeat Crocodile right after he entered the Grandline either.

^ This.
Don't forget guys. If you are a hero and you're going to defeat a villain you first have to beat his low level lackeys, then his lieutenants and finally his right hand man before beating the villain. This is how it has been done since the dawn of time. We got plenty of time left before luffy faces big mam.

Loved this chapter, and holy shit Big Mom is.... big? haha scary,

Just ran into some amazing analysis by someone on a Korean OP forum (http://cafe.daum.net/onepieceonline) predicting Luffy will be the second person to eat a second devil's fruit, specifically Nikyu Nikyu no Mi. This analysis is by 홍이D and i'm pretty much providing here an extremely paraphrased/summarized version of it.
Reasoning:
1) On an SMS, a reader points out that all the strawhat devil fruits can be numbered (gomu -- (5,6), hito -- (1,10), hana -- (8,7), yomi (4,3)). From this, missing is 2,9 -- "Nikyu". the reader asks if this means Kuma will be joining Strawhats -- Oda responds by saying he's surprised, but his response is "no comment"
2) Blackbeard and Luffy are polar opposites (bunch of evidence, blah blah). From this, notice how Luffy's Gomu Gomu would "counter" Blackbeard's Gura Gura -- basically, rubber would handle being shaken quite a bit better. This is followed by oda reasoning that he has thought very thoroughly giving Luffy the rubber fruit and there's a specific reason for it (for example, luffy survives many situation because he is rubber).
Because of this, Luffy still needs a way to counter Blackbeard's Yami fruit, which pulls things in with Gravity. Notice how Kuma's Nikyu fruit "repels" -- the fruit is a polar opposite of what the Yami fruit essentially does.
Essentially, it'll be a battle between Gravitation versus Repulsion, which makes sense.
Kuma works closely enough with Vegapunk, and given Kuma helping out Luffy -- one of the conditions could be a way to pull out the devil fruit from Kuma at one point and giving it to Luffy (this part is speculation)
Dunno I thought it was really fascinating -- that Luffy will find "some way" of getting this second devil's fruit :O

Makes so much sense that I am already convinced that it will happen.
