Lots of manga writers add many new characters without it completely detracting from the story. Kubo's biggest problem is that he's not willing to let go of characters who should be completely underpowered at this time of the story. At this point of time, any character who's below captain class is just complete fodder. Whereas other writers are content not showing fodder level characters or just giving them cameos from time to time, Kubo insists on giving all of those characters their screen time. I won't even get started on all the random power downs Ichigo has gotten so that other characters can mysteriously keep up with him only for him to get a random power up later on. | ||

Him using a single Getsuga Tensho that Aizen just blocked or dodged (can't remember which) took roughly 8-10 pages, more than half that chapter. | ||
