Naruto was good... until time skip. OP and HxH are far and away better than the above mangas... and were better even when the above 2 were good. Yorkshin HxH is one of the best arcs of all time IMO, and a couple of OPs are up there too. Although I kick HxH down a couple of notches because damn Togashi keeps takign hiatuses... wtf. But anyway... I feel so invested into this manga that I have to keep reading. ![]()

However, I have watched all eps of HxH(even the OVAs), and Hunter x Hunter dragged out in this pokemon/wow crap, that really I just got sick of, and was happy it was finally over, after the last ep. I'm a huge bleach/naruto fan, and I don't quite agree with alot of the comments here, even though I have to agree that it's kind of - in the words of day9; 'blahh' sometimes. Someone needs to make a thread or a blog or something about what makes one piece so freakin' good, and why I should bother watching it. Until then, I'm sticking with bleach and naruto and the nerve wrecking action that they provide. One Piece is good because of two things. One, the writing is amazing. In terms of pacing, Oda really knows when to slow down and bit and then to pick up the pace when it comes to events. Things that he sets up 100 chapters before will somehow become relevant in a very important and big way. Bleach and Naruto kinda do this too but the big difference is that Oda does it in an organic way. He's pretty much planned out roughly how the manga will play out and is just drawing it. This helps it avoid what I called the "DBZ syndrome". People power up just for the purpose of powering up, it's done just before a big fight with a training segment that's 2 or three chapters long. This shows that it was kinda done on the fly and wasn't really planned out correctly. Examples of this in Bleach is every instance Ichigo has leveled up. In Naruto it's his hax clone training. One Piece avoids this. Zoro is constantly training. Luffy was advised by Crocodile about 200 chapters before his level up to 2nd Gear to think up new ways to use his power. Nami learned to use her weather wand DURING the fight and won out of part smarts and part luck. Everything seems planned out and believable. There's no huge suspense of disbelief of plot developments like in Naruto and Bleach where the authors have pretty much confessed that they're just making shit up as they go along. The second thing that One Piece doesn't do is introduce imba final bosses. Bleach is ridiculous when it comes to this. Why is Ichigo the only one who can beat him? Why is his father wasting time teaching him this "final move" when his father already knows it and can use it? How the fuck do you beat a dude that already raped everyone and can put you under hypnosis instantly? Ichigo has had the weirdest power level scaling ever. He's been up and down so many times it's just sad. And he constantly needs to be reminded not to emo it up and do something. Naruto does something similar with Sasuke and Tobi/Madara.

What advice did Crocodile gave to luffy 200 chapters before Gear2? Enel the Thunder logia was super imba, ( move at speed of lightning, and capable of mind reading, immue to physical attacks, nukes people from safety 20 miles away) but i like how luffy can beat him not because of power, luffy beat him because he got lucky with the devil food counter @eshlow I think Yoshihiro Togashi is ill that's why all the hiatus for hunterXhunter

Now he bitches and moans about not killing people the right way, doesn't quite realize it's a war, and gives up incredibly easy. What the hell happened to him? One part that I was really confused about is that whole "Ichigo is becoming "evil" subplot" cause he was taping more and more into his dark side. Whatever happened to that? Has it even played any part in the recent plots? No. Also, the message he's sending out is so weird. It's no longer fight for other people, it's fight to win. WTF? Also, what happened to the Yami fight with Rukia and peeps, it's been off the radar for half a year now? Horrible writing on his part. The bit that turned me off most was the Soul Society v Arrancar part. It was basically a half chapter of character "development" for each captain/vice captain and arrancar so that we would feel bad/relate to them and then the second half was them either winning like it's nothing or getting horribly owned. And there were those cliff hanger endings where you think the person died but WAIT NO! It was just an ice statue and the only reason he draw that last panel in was to get a reaction out of the readers and it added nothing to the plot.

The only reason why its still in jump is because its a damn good manga On July 08 2010 09:34 Korpze wrote: @rei. I laughed so hard when Enel tried to hit Luffy with his lightning but then Luffy didn't take any damage. One of hte best pages of the manga. http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/279/16/ In fact the whole chapt is hilarious ... should read again. ![]()

Plus with Oda introducing the existence of Haki to the readers now (even though it was established in chapter 1 by Shanks!), I'm sure top tier people can fight with him on equal terms.
