Making the sword go against Byakuya I would get, him acquiring that knowledge? Not so much. I think it's more that he knows the movements of the sword. It's basically like he's faced Byakuya thousands of times in the past and survived/won.

Yukio is way stronger, since he can create any universe to insert the other dudes into, and he is the God of that universe. Amanuma has a pre-set game with pre-set rules. He has to actually be better at the game in order to defeat his opponent.

Also, OP skill is OP. Although Byakuya could pull off one of those "so I'll learn a new move on this fight"-type of fights, it would be a huge contrast to his character and I'd like it.

Or maybe his sword does have it's memories altered? Though same problem because then he could just make it not loyal to Byakuya... Doesn't make sense...

If you can insert yourself into someone's past, how are you not affecting people that they've been around with? If you befriend one person, shouldn't you at least be acquainted therefore with the friend's friend? If you can insert yourself into the past to fight with someone, in this case Byakuya, you should be dead already, because there's always the first time. If you insert yourself further into the past, why not kill them as a baby? And how does this not violate the temporal prime directive? If you can insert yourself into the past, the present is now a product of the past, which means the bleach that we've been reading now has essentially been the product of this guy's power. Does this mean we've been reading an alternate timeline the entire time? He's been there this entire time, we've just haven't been introduced to him. In fact his presence now could be the product of him cutting someone centuries in the future!

In the end it could be revealed that Byakuya wanted to be cut or something so he could go after Ichigo again ^_^

He can only change reality so far...lol. Making stones explode? No problem. Learn every attack pattern of a sword that has been used for hundreds of years? Piece of cake. Become Bykuya's friend? Impossible.
