I recently saw Jarmusch's Dead Man again; holy shit is it good. If you like hero tales, westerns, and strange Indian spirit guides, this ones for you.

Man that was great, the 'raping Emma Watson'-bit had me laugh out loud. 7/10 overall. Too bad Aziz died so early, though. That guy is hilarious.

I still think the book is ten times better and they should have kept true to the scope of the thing and made a triology or something, but under the premise of having to fit it all into one movie, it was done very well. Pain & Gain, hilarious. This is based on a true story and about 60 minutes in, the director of the movie tells you, in the movie, from the off :" Yepp, still a true story ". It is just that ridiculous and kinda awesome. It is about a bunch of bodybuilders that become criminal and fabricate the first crime case in which breast implants find use as evidence. It also shows pictures of the real people at the end, which is something every movie based on a true story should do. Rush. Shockingly brilliant. I know I know, nobody watches formula one unless they run out of sleeping pills. I think you also have to have a cultural predisposition. If you do not know who Niki Lauda is and have never seen Daniel Brühl in another movie, you just won't get this one. Brühl basicly pulls an Edward Norton here, making you forget that he ever played anything else, he becomes Lauda, more than oscar worthy performance, probably will not reach enough people though. It also has Thor and Olivia Wild in it. Great directing, great images, very true to the "history" and perfect pacing, but thats to be expected from a racing movie, no?

It is a miracle they got it into theatres, that book has had more production failures than almost any other iirc.

Not really. The book wasn't really about Ender, and the movie was all about him. It could be good for a TV series format with all the angles and plot-lines, not for a standalone movie. Everything is so incredibly rushed and boring... Even important moments of Ender failing, having emotional breakdowns and such take like 30sec to 1min of the screen time, everything else is about genius kid being successful at everything all the time. My rating: Garbage (I didn't even like the book very much, but compared to this movie it's stellar).

But compared to the last movies I watched this one was really one of the best. Maybe you could give me a good advice of another movie? Just to see if our taste is similar. If not, well no sense to discuss it then ![]()

He did not feel any character developement and called the movie rushed aswell. Maybe I am not one to judge since I still had the book good in my head and was reliving the "full" experience^^.

Villeneuve is clearly a Hollywood style filmmaker but there is something wrong with him as an artist. Something wrong with him as an artist? Dude. That scene where the rain changes to snow... Prisoners is amazing, everything was connected, people complained that the ending was generic, but seriously it wasnt. Roger Deakens isnt going to win anything for Prisoners, but he should since he even makes the indoor boring shots incredible, unlike last 3 oscar winners which won SOLELY off green screen shenanigans, (Pi,Hugo,Inception.) He out did Fincher at his own game, (TSN excluded.)

Top 3 movies so far (in no particular order): Star Trek: Into Darkness, Only God Forgives, Europa Report (Man of Tai Chi gets honorable mention). Top garbage: Ender's Game, Man of Steel, White House Down, Olympus Has Fallen, After Earth, Oz, G. I. Joe, Gravity (from the top of my head).
