You didn't find the story -too- similar to Fahrenheit 451 or 1984? I thought it was an ok'ish actionflick, but beyond that it was nothing special.
Well if you havent seen those then i guess it could come across as really good. Like it did for me If it looked like a complete copy i would probably have a different view but ive never seen those other two.

Agreed on the last song. That made the entire show for me. It was funny but it was also pretty try hard in my opinion. I I don't know, maybe I have just gone off comedies. I can't think of a single one that I like.

Saw the millers a few nights ago, gave me a few chuckles but overall i thought it was too much like every other comedy out there right now. I don't know what it is about American comedies the last 5-7 years but it's like they were all written by the same person. We have different kinds of scary movies such as slashers, supernatural, monsters but it's like only one kind of comedy.
Pretty good movie. I like movies about conspiracies and this one was pretty convincing. Russell Crowe was good. Only thing I didn't like was Ben Affleck and his character. I don't care what anyone says, this guy cannot act.

Yes, good adaption of the book. I still think the book is ten times better and they should have kept true to the scope of the thing and made a triology or something, but under the premise of having to fit it all into one movie, it was done very well.
Not really. The book wasn't really about Ender, and the movie was all about him. It could be good for a TV series format with all the angles and plot-lines, not for a standalone movie. Everything is so incredibly rushed and boring... Even important moments of Ender failing, having emotional breakdowns and such take like 30sec to 1min of the screen time, everything else is about genius kid being successful at everything all the time. My rating: Garbage (I didn't even like the book very much, but compared to this movie it's stellar).
Well ... Of course you haveevry right to judge the film for yourself. But compared to the last movies I watched this one was really one of the best. Maybe you could give me a good advice of another movie? Just to see if our taste is similar. If not, well no sense to discuss it then
This year?
Top 3 movies so far (in no particular order): Star Trek: Into Darkness, Only God Forgives, Europa Report (Man of Tai Chi gets honorable mention).
Top garbage: Ender's Game, Man of Steel, White House Down, Olympus Has Fallen, After Earth, Oz, G. I. Joe, Gravity (from the top of my head).
Sorry I didn´t repeat earlier, was kinda busy and didn´t see you replied.
From your top 3 I only watched "Star Trek: Into Darkness". This film was OK and surely I had fun. But to call it a top movie I don´t know ... Regarding your Top garbage: I totally share your opinion on Olympus Has Fallen. Actually I felt asleep during that one. I can´t agree on Ender´s game with you and the rest simply didn´t get me interested enough to spend money on these.
But thanks for the reply. Taste is subjective, no complains here. Good luck with the next movies!

It was a pretty basic cookie cutter martial arts film. Good choreography, enjoyable movie. Plot is unoriginal and it's something we've all seen before.
Liked it. It's a bit slow at times but it's definitely a breath of fresh air from the vampire movies/series of these last years. Some things sadly smell of low budget and it's not a horror movie nor terrifying. But it kept me interested revealing a little bit of story at a time (past vs present) and the atmosphere is definitely fitting. All this while avoiding many clichés, without needing over the top gore or sex scenes, and it's a thumbs up for me.

I also saw this last weekend after seeing it mentioned here, fresh is the word that I would use, too.
Was pretty funny, we both liked it. It's a very standard comedy movie with its usual plot devices so you won't get originality from it and you know where all of this is going. But the jokes are there and how they are delivered is good. It's definetely one of the good ones when it comes to this genre. So not really surprised that the critiques didn't like it (blamed the recycled plot, poor villains and inconsistencies) while the audience liked it (because in the end they laughed). Worth mentioning that the inevitable drama part of it (romance, main characters in conflict etc) doesn't take too much space and you won't get like a boring 20min at the end of endless cheesy drama in this one.
Obviously, as for any comedy I suggest to watch it with someone.

Hmm no. That has more to do with the fact that comedy is more of a tone/flavor than a real genre imo. When we talk about a Comedy we in reality just mean a funny romance/drama which is the most common. The same way you have horror-comedy, sci-fi comedy etc. Then you also have different forms of humor.
For the subgenres you cited, by themselves they dictate a lot of what the movie is about. Comedy doesn't (unless we are referring to say Romantic Comedy which then implies a lot of stuff). Sometimes, say comedy-horror movies, oversatturate the comedy part, like Scary Movie. And sometimes it's a more subtle flavor like A Cabin in the woods.
I'm usually not very interested in movies about gay couples but this one was recommended as "the best gay movie I've ever seen" so I gave it a try. It was definitely a good choice. The movie is rather slow paced and plot-wise there isn't a lot of twists and turns going on (in a few words, it isn't your day to day Hollywood romance flick). But the movie is worth seeing for its overall quality and the messages I got from it (which at time were subtly delivered). The dialogues felt both authentic and very interesting and actor performance was impressive. Add on it a touching relation and a satisfying conclusion (as to what the problem of the main protagonist is about) and I'd definitely recommend it. Give it a try.
Also saw Catfish. Disappointing. It<s interesting but its a phenomenon that isnt surprising for someone who played mmo for years. And it could have been made into a 40min video instead of a whole movie.
This was the most engaging movie I've seen in quite a while. I think one of the biggest reasons for this was that everything about it felt so real and fresh. This is also one of the only found footage movies I've seen where I barely even notice that it's found footage for most of the movie.
10 The Wolverine (2013) - 6.0/10
Just mindless crap, really. Nothing remotely interesting happens in this movie. Not even the fight scenes are interesting. Ninja fighting Wolverine with motorcycles? Then he somehow makes a truck blow up by sticking his claw in the top of it? Some random Yakuza guy fighting Wolverine on a train that's moving 200+ MPH? What is this?
The villains are incredibly lame as well. We have Viper, who doesn't do anything for most of the movie, then when she finally has the chance to do something, she peels the skin off her head for no apparent reason, and then when she finally fights, she's suddenly terrible at using her poison and loses instantly to a girl with a staff. What's even the point of most of the movie? Wolverine is AT YOUR HOUSE half an hour in. You have a clan of ninja, the Yakuza, the police and powerful poisons that can easily immobilize him under your control. JUST CAPTURE HIM THEN.
It's also not immediately clear when this movie even takes place. The third X-Men movie came out 8 years ago. I don't even remember most of what happened in it. Why doesn't it just say how long after the events of the third movie this takes place? Given how long it's been since the last movie, I wasn't even sure for a while if it's even supposed to be in the same universe.

You're entitled to your opinion. Here's mine.
Viper's lack of poison sucked and that scene with the peeling skin was dumb. I don't think the old guy ever controlled the Yakuza or Police. The Yakuza were hired by someone else. His plan was to become young and let everyone think the old him had died. Then he would go control his company with the help of his grand daughter. I thought the scenes with Jean Grey were unnecessary. It made it feel like they'd betrayed the comics by having wolverine kill phoenix and having so many characters die. The train scene fight was pretty cool. Imo they were the only cool fights. 6/10 is an accurate score.
It is a documentary style movie where a family tells the story of the life of their mother/wife etc. It is strangely gripping. The inconsistencies in the stories make it hard to get a definitive opinion of the main character (who is only spoken of but still manages to grab your attention).
There are a few rather surprising plot twists, a lot of likeable storytellers and it's filmed in a very open, confident manner. Loved it.
Turbo 3/10, funny at times, but the moralization and transparent ideology is pretty scary. My kids would watch quite a few things before this. Not good Pixar :/ Inside Llewyn Davies (Coen Brothers) Good movie without at doubt. Bittersweet, funny, sad, beautiful in turn, a bit too well constructed for its own good. Llewyn is an adorable loser that wouldn't want it any other way. 8/10
