Been awhile since I watched something so I decided on this today.

The Conjuring - A family moves to an old farmhouse out in the country and paranormal events start to take place. I enjoyed it overall. There are still some jump scares which I hate, but the general atmosphere of the movie is dreadful and it stayed that way. Was rather uneasy to watch at times. Even as someone who isn't religious, possession scenes always freak me out.

Really good romantic comedy. It wasn't the usual hollywood cut but it had something extra. I really recommend this.

Rewatched Enemy at the Gates last night for fun.

Man, it's still so entertaining. The dialogue between Major Konig + Sacha, and the battle of Konig vs. Zaitsev is so good.

The final scene between Konig + Sacha gives me chills, as does the climax at the end.

I just watched "Side Effects". That was weird. I started out by being a critique of the psychological medicine industry and the way that "pills cure everything". Then it flips and becomes a hollywood thriller...

It wasn't boring in any sense and both parts worked. It was just a weird mix. Add in a lesbian theme to make it even more weird...

For me the twist was dissapointing. Not only i saw it coming from a mile, but the call on the medicine industry theme happened to be thousand of times more interesting to me than watching something you can find in thousands of movies.

Only god forgives

I like the scenes. I like the music. But the story/characters were for me the weak spot.

if found the characters to be one of the stronger aspects of the film. also, the light effects were great.

and yeah, there is no "rea"l story in the movie anyway, because it doesnt need one.

Watched JSA - Juint Security Area

What a great and fun and shocking movie. I love how Korean movie incouprate funny parts into more serious movies unlike the Hollywood movies.

Red (1) was pretty entertaining, but I'm told the second has not been well received.

yea I guess. It definitely has cheesy parts and holes, but since I didn't watch it with any sort of expectations, it was worth the money.

Watched the original 1980's Evil Dead.

I loved the movie but jesus was it brutal.

That being said I'm looking forward to Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness.

I rather liked Enemy at the Gates too, but when I watched it with my father, who was born in the USSR and immigrated to Canada as a young adult, he became really upset by the complete divergence from actual historical fact in portraying the Soviet army during WW2 and the battle of Stalingrad. He refused to watch any more after the scene where all the Soviets have no guns and charge blindly into the german MG nests. Apparently the movie was received extremely poorly in Russia for this reason, with many veterans of the battle of stalingrad even demanding the film be banned. : /

I've just watched Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. Holy shit, that was good.
It is a comic movie set in the universe were a lot of DC Comics' Superheroes like Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, The Flash etc. form the "justice league (JL)" to battle crime together. I also have to issue a disclaimer: This was the first time I watched something from DC, so I'm not into the characters. I could look up that "Antiflash" is actually called Professor Zoom, but I'm sure everybody gets what I'm saying.
It opens with a quick reminder of some of the backstory of the Flash but quickly jumps to a heist from "Antiflash" and thugs who want to steal "macguffin", but are stopped by Flash assisted by the JL. After the dust settles, everybody goes their way but oddly the next day Flash wakes up in an alternative Universe were the Amazons (ruled by Wonderwoman) are at war with the Atlantean (ruled by Aquaman). Humanity is caught in between as the Amazons already conquered the UK. While the Flash tries to restore the timeline, the US try to save humanity.

As I already said, I'm not that into (DC) comics, but the movie still worked for me surprisingly well. I didn't get half the characters that were running around, but I didn't need to. The main characters were changed a bit to the "mainline" universe so they explained that on the way and even if I didn't know Lex Luther(but I guess everybody knows him) his scenes were waranted. Since it is an alternative Universe at war there are also a lot of characters dieing which fits the dark tone oh the whole movie quite well. Also the two storylines (war/restoring timeline) come together nice.
One thing I didn't like was wonderwoman's "lasso of truth". I found that hilarious until I found out that it is canon from the begining. I guess they won't change that now but it was a painful reminder that she originated in the 40ies. A real (minor) point of critique is the animation of the faces. While the rest of the animation is top notch, the faces sometimes lack expression. Esp. male ones look like drawing 101.

If you are at least a bit into comic movies, check this one out. 9/10

I then watched "the batman vs Dracula" in which the penguin by accident revives Dracula. Dracula then tries to take over Gotham while Batman tries to get a date. This one wasn't as good as The Flashpoint paradox, but I still liked it. Dark and gritty and suspenseful. watch it, if you have time. 6/10.
Countdown to victory: 1 200!

Awesome awesome movie, very scifi though I feel it was heavily edited to reduce time though I could be wrong. Lot more graphic than I thought it would be. The fight scenes were awesome.
