Would You Rather (2012) - 6.0/10
![[image loading]](http://cdn.wegotthiscovered.com/wp-content/uploads/Would-You-Rather-620x350.jpeg)
I felt that this movie had a lot of potential and the directing and editing were pretty strong throughout, but ultimately the writing just isn't good enough at the end. It feels extremely lazy; like they couldn't think of anything, so they just went with the most obvious direction.
+ Show Spoiler +Incidentally, the whole thing with the doctor going to try to save them was just pointless. If anything, it just takes away from the movie since it takes the audience outside of the house. It'd be much more effective to stay inside the house for the entirety of the game. Watching him drive there and break in and all that is just a needless distraction which contributes absolutely nothing to the plot.

The colorful screenplay that let's you glimpse into the past of the characters gives the film enough depth to make it a solid recommendation for any Walken or Pacino fan.
wtf, a cast like that and I've never heard of this movie before thats weird. Gonna check it out

That movie looks terrible...maybe it's marketing.

I'd give it a 6.5/10 IMO this is just a bad, even farther from believable version of Die Hard. 3.5/10 from me. Only worth watching if you are looking for senseless action.

Lincoln 6.5/10 Quite slow & boring at times. GF fell asleep on this one i'm p sure.. Not 100% sure DDL deserved the oscar for this seeing as many of his scenes he starts out acting in the same manner. Overall it was ok and maybe worth watching just for the parts with Tommy Lee Jones.
Silver Linings Playbook 8.5/10 Really enjoyed this movie through and through. Was a bit of a mess, kind of like the lives of the people in it. But had its own charm and the acting by the two leads was brilliant. Thought Bradley Cooper deserved the oscar over DDL in this case. Watched this with the GF and we both really enjoyed it so I think it's a good movie to watch with someone close.
The Hobbit 8.0/10 A generous 8 given. Had a clumsy start but was overall an enjoyable movie. Hoping for the next parts to be better without the awkward introduction stage needed. Still once you get into the spirit of it, a fun movie to watch.
Cloud Atlas 9.0/10 Probably the best movie I've seen in a while. Enjoyed & recommend.

being in DC, it sure was a tad bit disturbing.

The Silence of the Lambs
![[image loading]](http://www.filmmisery.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/silence-of-the-lambs-halloweenweb1.jpg) I cant believe I just watched this film now. It was on my shelf for almost 5 years. Great movie. Anthony Hopkins' acting is superb and Jodie Foster looked so beautiful in her younger years 9.0/10

Dredd
I love the world-building present but there isn't much breadth to the action. It is a fantastic piece for fans!

Jiro's Dreams of Sushi is good, and you should feel good.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - the last of the HP movies for me to see, so now I've gotten around to all of them; this was one of the better or best ones (but that's not saying very much)--it starts out with a lot of promise. The whole movie franchise was pretty poor though, they mostly are just summaries of the books with moving animated pictures, they never brought anything to the table.

This was an interesting way to close the trilogy, and I disagreed with my sister about it. She was disappointed cause it didn't connect enough and it's very obtuse, but I thought it was a pretty brilliant film, especially after the bluntness of Winter Light. As a look at lives that seem a lot more modern with a very different set of people and extending the silence of God into silences and disconnect between people, it pulls it in to make it seem a lot more universal. The way it includes private sexual things definitely adds to its impact for me. Hard to watch though cause it provides no answers or real sense of where it's going, it's just a look along with people.

I recently watched 12 Monkeys starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. It really wasn't what I expected judging from the movie poster and it started off kind of awkward and slow but overall I found it quite entertaining to watch. If you liked Looper, you will like 12 Monkeys.

^love 12 monkeys, great great movie

12 monkeys is so much better than looper.

looper sucks compare to 12 monkeys

Stay away from this movie, it just plain.... bad. Terrible acting and they make the main character like Rambo or superman. Imba U.S army as usual.

Zero Dark Thirty - riveting 2.5 hours. Jessica Chastain is amazing, just really hits the right level of performance. For the movie itself, I can feel that there are some inside knowledge of the events leading to and around the raid that's incorporated really well in the movie, making it very believable.
Hobbit (an unexpected journey)- the opposite 2.5 hours of the previous movie. Can't really root for any of the characters. Just felt restless after an hour although there are a few interesting sequences in the film.

Nothing too incredible, but overall good times. No... the premise is reminiscent of Bring It On, but the actual plot is quite different. Or at least the writing is.

I had no idea what to expect when I started the movie. It was a decent film, but the "message" was a bit overdone and really not as spectacular as one would hope from a Kubrick film.

Rashomon (Akira Kurosawa) A crime is told by four different witnesses, all stories being contradictory. As this is one of the most famous and influencial movies of all time, it is difficult to watch it without having certain expectations about it. First japanese film going to the west, it for instance visibly shows up in Tarantino's Jackie Brown, and there also a Simpson's episode where Marge says she loves Rashomon to which Homer answers "I don't recall it that way"... Needless to say, the writing is absolutely perfect, the directing is excellent, with for instance a lot of very smart games on light. Acting is obviously very good. That being said as it is a bit too theoretical, I wouldn't rate it as what are for me Kurosawa's masterpieces, for instance the incredible RedBeard. Still, it's a easily a 9/10, and I don't hand them that lightly.
