The Wrestler was very good. Can't argue with that.

I cannot really review the movie with the depth it deserves but personally I found it touching and would recommend others to check it out aswell. Strong film. The unending bleakness got dull, though. It really could've used more little pleasures, especially coming from the protagonist's three deadweight relatives (mother, brother, sister). Still, I certainly never doubted its portrayal.

9/10 An actual decent movie based on the novel, acting was SPECTACULAR, no wonder it got such a high rating by critics. If you haven't read the book but only watch the movie you will not be disappointed, the plot is pretty straightforward with a few "mysteries" here and there. Would watch it again
+ Show Spoiler +Emma Watson's boob groping O_O

Another blast from the past:

Some minor flaws, but overall more than a decent thriller. I enjoyed it! 7/10. Features one of the best/creepiest movie villains imho. I thought i hadn't watched this movie yet, but turned out i did kinda 20 years ago as a kid on TV. How could i forget this scene: + Show Spoiler +The 47th street scene, when Szell informs himself about the diamonds is just fantastic imho. I wanted him to get killed by an angry mob so hard.

Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning
Holy smokes! I wasn't expecting that! AWESOME!

skyfall . . .getting amazin ratings . . i thought it was boring and not the best out of the 3 with DC . . really, why this film getting great reviews. It has no deep thinking area which i thought is the main drive of the spy genre, no action for 1hr of the movie . . 2/5 man

It was so bad that I couldn't stop laughing at the end. I can never look at an ATM in the same way again...

Argo Afleck was great, nice movie

Meh skyfall was far worst than I expected ...

Hour of the Wolf
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/iM6md.jpg) This is confusing and scrambled in a way that shows how he sort of changed his mind in late stages about what/who the story should be about. But still artfully conveys a very interesting nightmare confusion vs. love theme.
Mission: Impossible 3
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/BYvtx.jpg) Undeterred by the disaster of MI2 (mainly cause the director changes every installment) I plunge on in the series. What Abrams brings in this one is a competent action thriller basically, tense, never letting you breathe and it has a few pretty good ideas. Although it does sort of remind of Alias with top production values but that's not too bad, just not super original. Better than your average action film and Phillip Seymour Hoffman is fantastically villainous.

Very interested in The hour of the wolf as a Bergman fan, especially as it's from its experimental period.
The Saragoss Manuscript ( Wojciech Has) I'll stole imdb's summary this one time, cause I can't really do it myself : In the Napoleonic wars, an officer finds an old book that relates his grandfather's story, Alfons van Worden, captain in the Walloon guard. A man of honor and courage, he seeks the shortest route through the Sierra Morena. At an inn, the Venta Quemada, he sups with two Islamic princesses. They call him their cousin and seduce him; he wakes beside corpses under a gallows. He meets a hermit priest and a goatherd; each tells his story; he wakes again by the gallows. He's rescued from the Inquisition, meets a cabalist and hears more stories within stories, usually of love. He returns to Venta Quemada, the women await with astonishing news
3 hours movie that went extremely fast. Charming and endearing, mysterious, sometimes funny, the plot is pretty convoluted but doesn't pretend to show anything. At one time there was a story told in a story told... at the 6th degree. But it was somehow obious and worked perfectly well. The movie is beautifully shot too, and the ending really keeps the frontier between dreams and reality quite tenuous. Compelling. 9/10
The earrings of Madame de (Max Ophüls) Madame de... sells earrings her husband offered her for her marriage. After quite a long journey, her lover offers her the same... Absolutely delicious movie. The main trio (Charles Boyer, hilarious, Danielle Darrieux, charming and Vittorio de Sica, the pefect melancholic lover) is perfect, the movie is subtle but funny, and the darker ending is very-well brought. Ophüls directing is amazing, as good as in Le plaisir, the bal scenes for instance are full of life and joy, it's simply wonderful. Simple, but beautiful. 9.5/10

Just saw three minutes of The Love Guru with Mike Meyers. Very funny, he pulled a broken pool cue out of his butt, and made a few jokes, all of them relating to his penis. I actually only saw two minutes because I read an email on my phone.
Highly reccomended while flipping channels during the ad break.
I'd give it four "wang jokes aren't always funny"s out of nine.

Cabin in the Woods
Was fun. Don't see how it's scary though even though it is horror genre, it's too funny to be scary. Very similar in tone to Scream, I think I like Scream a little better though.

![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/SaQg2.jpg) Turn Me on Dammit
This is an Indie movie made, somewhere in Europe. I think it's in Sweden. It's about a young girl going through puberty. It's a rather boring movie as not a whole lot happens, but it's different from other movies you might see. The ending is happy. I would say this movie is like reading a book.
The title is a bit misleading if you don't interpret it as an indie movie. Do not recommend.

I'm not a very courageous person. It can be very hard for me to jump off rooftops or to dive into pools even when I'm fairly certain I'll be safe. Also I don't watch many horror movies.

Cloud Atlas
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/kKCFs.jpg)
I read the book not too long ago and was amazed, maybe my favorite of all recent novels I've read. I had a few gripes with the movie from my perspective but it wasn't bad as a companion after reading the book. I'm just not sure it has enough time to build many of the stories to the impact they should have, being limited in length and having to cut between them so much, so I can see it being a big showy pointless exercise if you don't have the built up weight for each one from reading the book. Also it wastes some of that time, like with the big action set pieces in the Korea story that don't even happen in the book for example. Also the + Show Spoiler +very Hollywoodized ending disappointed me. I think it was a very respectable attempt by the Wachowskis though, I think their vision did mostly fit the call. If (and this never would happen as a major studio film) this was allowed to be like 5+ hours long, let each story segment develop twice as much, I think it could have turned out amazing.
The Call of Cthulhu
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/9m0FU.gif) This is a throwback homage to 1920's silent horror films, lots of expressionism thrown in. For the most part it's pretty awesome, the only problem I have is their overall throwback choice makes the movie sort of hit you more academically than viscerally which I think doesn't do Lovecraft justice at all. + Show Spoiler +There is one particularly egregious example of this decision-making, the super fake stop motion of the actual monster, that saps all the visceral horror possibility for its modern audience and I think really should have been re-thought. Would have made so much more impact to have a very scary Cthulhu and it would have been worth breaking the 20's film image for that.
