I really like his character in the TV series. nah Bronn was always awesome. They seem to have added more to Shae though. I figured he was saying that to let him know. That he did his duty even while his family was fighting a war. Pretty much trying to let robb know that he isn't the only person who had to make tough choices in his life.

However, it doesn't really matter because Aemon is so old he will be dead soon. I just thought it was a beautifully delivered scene by both actors. If it would've just been Aemon saying "hey btw did you know i'm a targaryen?", I wouldn't have liked that scene much either.

Jorah Mormont gave up his honour for his wife, by selling people to buy shit for her to make her happy. Ed Stark in the end was willing to give up his honour and lie to protect his daughters. I'm forgetting a few but there are also many examples in book two which I can't go into here. Aemon is one of the few that kept his honour. Also I thought they captured the relationship between Danaerys and Drogo very well.

It's to say that it's people's common sense that such a small wound should not be able to take the life of someone with brute strength and is battle-hardened. Also, stop talking about the books in this thread. I thought the mod notes is big enough for everyone to see. Idk if you know this, but being battle hardened and physically strong doesn't help with infections.

At one time people thought that when a person had a fever you should bleed them, or that when a person is crazy you should drill into their skull to let the demons out. In retrospect, blood magic doesn't seem that crazy. In any case, in the Song of Ice and Fire world magics and supernatural events do exist, so at least their witches and shamans have more credence than in ours.

It was very common to die like that back then. It doesn't matter how much of a badass you are, an infection is still an infection - and it can easily kill you if not treated. also considering the wound is close to the heart. The cause of the wound was from a scythe that has been used many times though out battle, it could be poisoned or uncleaned which could cause fatal wound easily.

I was under the impression that under normal circumstances he never would have been crowned anyway. He went to the wall after he refused the crown. Can't get too much into it as it may be considered spoiling (although it's not really a spoiler, just stuff that was cut from the show).

And I think the wound thing is shifty, didn't the witch say that if she didn't treat the wound it would fester, implying that she would be able to clean it so it would heal? I think that blood mage of a witch being held captive by people that would usually rape and enslave her may not be as virtuous as she is acting....

![]() Remember there was a time when the average life span was about 30 years of age. Most common cause of death? Febrile illness. Respect the infection. As an aside, look what happened to the aliens in War of the Worlds ![]()
