Yes in that situation it's correct to keep him alive, but having seen the situation play out in way too many movies, I feel like Jaime will slip away and come back and do something worse.

Show will gather steam after this season and will have a bigger budget for battles and such; honestly, it's a refreshing break to see it done the old-school way. Just toggle on LOTR if you want to see huge battles (which I personally find boring to watch). Very mild book spoiler (already happened on TV) - + Show Spoiler + Of course, I am a bit puzzled about the lack of Roose Bolton, and the missing scene from the battle where Jaime killed a few of the Walder boys (although I am sure that this will be shared in conversation soon enough).

As long as a characters death furthers the story, as long as he is being killed for a reason, why get mad about it? It only shows that the books/show doesn't fuck around and babysit the characters. Why would you want to watch a show like this if you knew that none of your favourite characters would ever die? It doesn't make sense to me. In a word. Hollywood.

Because it happens in like the grand majority of shows?

Usually the thing with the books and movies is that you're presented with some kind of protagonist or other character that you can associate yourself with. This way you have an anchor that keeps you hooked, you seriously worry about him/her, are genuinely interested in his/her fate etc. When your favorite character dies the stakes go up and you are more concerned about your next favorite. When this and the next one die as well though, you start to lose the grip, you start to expect that everyone you like is going to die and stop caring. Some deaths are good for the book/show, but if you overdo it it's pretty bad.

Ones that we will follow. If you know what I'm saying.
