If this journey north to find a whitewalker is something GRRM thought of, I really do hope he can sell it more convincingly. This season was the worst so far judging from the quality of dialogue and contrived story I don't have much hope for the final one but maybe I am too harsh on the writers of the show. I think capturing an outlying enemy soldier is likely a pretty common occurrence when big armies are being moved around. I don't think it would've been anything totally ridiculous if one of the scouting parties sent out by Dolorous Edd somehow manages to capture one frozen stuck or caught under a minor avalanche or something.
The only reason why it became such a big storyline is because they chose make it such. I don't obviously know about what GRRM has in his twisted mind, but the series storyline definitely has that 'screenwriter trying to think excuses to show cool visual stuff' kind of feel to it.

My take on it as well, but it was obvious it would be that anyway.
To me, GoT in the beginning was a TV show taking the insane approach of being a book that cost millions of dollars per page. Then they realized after spending billions that they only covered half of the book in 6 years and they can't keep doing that. So now it's a TV Show being a TV Show. Silly but entertaining stuff that you forget as soon as you watch it.

Also, the books don't exist and likely never will.

To be honest reading this thread is becoming hilarious at this point, the amount of whining nonsense is amazing. If the show doesn't spell everything very slowly for you, it's a plothole. Or if the show does something that interferes with your subjective headcannon, it's shit writing. If the show conveniently pass a month on one minute, it's a teleport, if a raven manages to send word to Daenerys, we will assume that it was a fault in writing and we would not ask ourselves how long do nights last in the north, or even if they only stayed there one day, if a few survive against the army of the dead, we will conveniently forget that they were fighting one vs one for the most time since the dead couldn't cross in total numbers, and they were using dragonglass, valyrian steel, flaming sword and those aren't the same as the first one we saw on black castle.
I am sure you will find none who will argue that the first seasons weren't better, but from there to "the show is a shitshow" is quite a lengthy path.
Hell, i remember people complaining about Sam not deducting instantly that Jon was a Targaryen, and now it is that "Sam conveniently went there to legitimize Jon". Because let's forget that we got to see the place and its inhabitants, or Jorah's healing in the first place, and we still don't know what else Sam has brought from there.
Like really, when the show goes too fast, it's because the shitwriters don't know to show me the vipers boarding the ship even if there is a scene hinting me that that's pretty much what they are going to do, and when the show goes a little bit more into detail like LF/Arya/Sansa/Bran, they should had skipped most of it and give us a teleportational resolution. It really sounds more like a matter of taste, than a legitimate critic. Which is fine, except when people is emboldened enough to call it bad writing or plotholes. its a pretty big plothole that cersei's hair hasnt grown out yet.

They have hair salon technology in GOT. Otherwise Jons beautiful locks couldn't exist,

I enjoyed watching Littlefinger's downfall. I was just thinking earlier today about wtf his end game is. He's played every side at this point and double crossed them all...for what? He never had a shot at sitting on the throne and he double crossed too many people to be someone's Hand.
Man, I was kinda rooting for him... not to win, but to be a worthy villain. What a punk way to go. So much for the "Littlefinger and Varys are the only player characters" theory.

I'm glad LF is finally dead and while it was awkward and cliche as fuck, seeing Theon get a chance to redeem himself made me happy

Is it me or is the acting/dialogue just absolutely terrible? Cersei talking with clenched teeth at all time, the telenovelas level relationship between jon and daenarys... I find it hard to take seriously when i'm laughing during the "serious" moments.

+ Show Spoiler +Did the end of the season shot with the undead army walking and a dragon flying over it remind any current or former world of warcraft players of the Wrath Of The Lich King opening cinematic trailer?

It didnt make me think about any character in particular but i was thinking about warcraft.

Sindragosa bursting out of the ice beats the way the show does it, its a complete giveaway once you see the corpse being pulled out of the water so the big 'reveal' of the eye is entirely wasted. And the dead screaming up to Sindragosa as she flies over beats the marching scene in the show aswell.
Overal this was a much better episode because there wasn't so much teleporting going on.
Jon and Danny feels horribly forced tho but I guess we could blame that on the show running out of time. They will have spend a lot more time together to grow towards eachother then we have been shown on screen.

someone in the night's watch is prolly a cersei plant. magic ice can't melt magic ice beams.
I enjoyed this episode, dunno why people are hating. Super satisfying LF finally getting whats coming to him scene, and Cersei actually acted like Cersei, and Jamie had the final piece of evidence of her monstrosity needed to be the good guy he kinda still happens to be. Honestly I thought everybody acted in accordance with how they are supposed to act, and that is part of what I've loved about this show. Characters that are full fledged and complex - but also consistent.
The Theon scene, while it was nice to finally see him redeem himself, didn't make sense. I mean, it was funny how he didn't feel being kicked in the balls, but the fact is, if one guy is beating up another guy into a bloody pulp, they're not both equally hurt by this. But that's how it looked. That's nitpicking compared to complains about the previous episode though.

If you want Shakespeare, go see Shakespeare. No "bad writing" to criticize and hopefully you can take it seriously.

Pretty dope episode tbh. I wish Arya had rekt LF in a trial by combat though.
I'm pretty sure it would've looked much the same way.

LF was always going to die by over playing his hand.

Nothing fancy and it didn't feel good to me either, but well it is what it is. With Bran into equation is pretty hard to do anything else.
