Same, I was like oh fuck Drogon is gonna fucking die, this episode couldn't get anymore tear jerking with Shereen dying. Then Dany makes one of her only smart moves and makes him fly away so they both live. Hopefully he takes her where he's been crashing this whole time and she reconnects with her roots and comes back to get the other 2 dragons on her side.
Also totally thought her husband was behind the Sons of the Harpy, I guess not... That or they were on the same side they just didn't give a fuck and killed him anyway.

If he wanted to wait for men and supplies from the wall he wouldn't have resorted to the sacrifice. Davos was sent away cause Stannis knew he wouldn't stand for this shit. The thing about these rituals is that so far they haven't done anything "magical" by themselves except the shadow baby. All the other king candidates dying was just a natural progression and coincidence but melisandre credited it to the god of light. Likely they'll get support and melisandre will just be like "SEE, I TOLD YOU IT WORKS" yet again.

I don't usually post my opinion on this show, but this time I have to just to see if I am not alone here.
I'm sorry, but Stannis burning his only daughter alive just is not plausible. I didn't even feel sad during the scene, because there is no way in my mind that a man like him, who stands for honour and integrity, could literally burn his daughter alive. I imagined they would do it quickly and painlessly. But when I saw the fire stand thing, I literally started laughing.
I know GRRM loves to write shit this way, but I think this time he crossed a line where the absurdity outweighs the emotions it's supposed to invoke.

Shadow baby alone is pretty much a given that Melisandres methods work. I'd argue killing a king candidate from however far away they were is a pretty strong indicator that Melisandre's probably not pulling shit out of her ass.

Yeah, if you see something like that you don't question its effectiveness. Also stannis never stood for any worthy ideals, the man is basically killing 1 close relative after another from s01.

From what we saw in the episode preview this ritual changes the weather and gives them the opportunity to attack. I doubt it'll do much more than that.
But for EVERYTHING else I'm calling bullshit. Remember that they didn't do a sacrifice to kill like 5 very important people and just used Gendry's blood. If that's the case then they could just take shireen's blood instead of killing her. It's pretty clear that part of this is just coincidence rather than any actual magic.

Maybe what he did will save more lives, but fuck Stannis.

Changing the weather is pretty fucking huge considering your whole fucking army is being Russian Wintered. Men leaving, morale is shit, supplies are fucked, and it's bloody fucking cold and tiresome walking through deep ass snow. Stannis isn't a retard, he hopped dimensions and read Napoleon's attempt at Russia and Germany's as well. Getting your entire legion full of men who followed you vs the life of one girl, even if it's your daughter. He's a man who has responsibilities. If anything he's being pragmatic as a motherfucker.
Wait, what part of Renly getting stabbed by a shadow is coincidence?

her husband probably was on the side of the Sons of the Harpy, but his death was probably a power grab among their own.

Wait, what part of Renly getting stabbed by a shadow is coincidence? I never said it didn't work, I said that was the only instance of it actually working and everything else was a coincidence.
What about the battle at blackwater where he lost terribly when melisandre said he would win? Now he's out of people to sacrifice and he's not even close to the throne yet. Even if he beats the Boltons here he has to trek south again with whatever he has left.

lol so who did you guys think jorah was throwing a spear at the few seconds before we realize its an assassin.
The fight scenes in the fighting pit were hilariously bad. Jorah grabbing onto the spear to stop it would never happen. And doing fowardrolls is in general a horrible idea.

Yeaaah, I agree. The story as a whole is starting to have a lot of these moments that just break my immersion into the universe.

He wouldn't trek anywhere if he didn't try this shit, and if it works, Melisandre's at least 2 for 1. Technically he would have won at Blackwater if Tyrion weren't OP and also luck boxed his way into a shit tonne of wildfire. From a point of pure pragmatism, it's certainly worth a very decent shot.

That scene with Shireen was harsh.
Now there's some damn controversy. To hell with a minor rape scene.

Maybe only if you touch the greyscale itself?
Also fuck Stannis

haha, for like a brief second I thought it was thrown at Dany.
I was about to start clapping too, I'm so tired of him taking her shit. I don't even think he deserved to be banished in the way that he was to begin with. He was obviously always diehard for Dany.

Rape scene was not even remotely bad. You see nothing, the old lady getting skinned and the stories of Ramsays cruelty are far worse than the rape scene. Compared to Ramsays usual tendencies... rape is literally the least he could do. Far less than getting chased by dogs and chewed up, and far less than being flayed while still alive. Rape is bad? No shit. But she married him and went up to consummate the marriage with him, what else would anyone expect? That's literally a tradition in the show. Marriage -> Married couple consummates marriage.

People were attached to sansa. But considering people are attached to shireen + burning to death is one of the worst and most painful ways to die + she's just an innocent kid is like three folds worse.
|
Stannis living by his name and reputation. I give him that much at least...
Also the ending rofl. Drogon getting speared was nice, shows that hes not a invincible variable. And the flying scene, got mad flash back of The NeverEnding Story, anyone else??? lol!

Highly disappointed with this episode, especially the audio.
