He could have just dropped it on the sea if he wanted it gone forever. It was kinda crazy how casual it was dropped by Lysa Arryn that it was actually they (her and Petyr Baelish) that kicked off the events in season 1 and not the Lannisters. Unless it is I've missed some piece of information given in an earlier episode. Tyrion's storyline has been the most interesting so far, can't wait to see what happens next episode.

Tywin will happily lose one son, especially if it's Tyrion, but never risk both at the same time. On an unrelated note, I found the Iron Bank scene really dumb because they were dumb. "Sorry Stannis, I don't think you can possibly win the Iron Throne unless someone gives you a lot of money because you've got too few men and you can't support them." No fucking shit Iron Bank, that's literally the point of this meeting, to get the money to win the Iron Throne. The observation that you won't support me because I can't win alone without money makes no sense because the support I'm suggesting you give is money. We both agree I need money, that's why we're having this meeting, but you have money so if you give me the money you have solved the issue and therefore made me worth supporting. I mean seriously Iron Bank, are you lost? Do you need someone to find you an adult and take you home? Money equips armies, yes. It does not make you defensible against seiges when you have no food and are confined to an island. It does not generate soldiers by itself (unless you're assuming there are tens of thousands of sellswords hanging out waiting that haven't been hired into the existing war) Money that goes into creating production facilities to make more ships/weapons is money not spent on materials. The concept of only loaning money to someone who is likely to be able to use it effectively and pay it back isn't some arcane Westeros idea. Stannis isn't the head of a mighty kingdom that can't pay the bills in the short run. He literally lacks a way to turn that money into a victory. Davos convinced the Iron Bank by explaining that it wasn't about the loan changing Stannis's odds today, it was the instability of the status quo making Stannis the only one who was going to be in any position to pay back the Crown's debt ever, and that's a worthy investment.

In fact, wouldn't the Tyrells be a better debtor than the Lannister for the Iron bank, even without being the royal house? Also, once Stannis dies (because of old age) who's granting the interests to the Iron bank? Seems like the same problem that Davos pointed out refering to the death of Tywin.

I just fail to see the direct correlation of being the king and having automatically more money to pay back the interests. The point Stannis and Davos are making is that there will be more wars if Lannisters stay. So more expenses. Stannis basically says "Give me money now and there will be no more wars, so I will be able to start paying back".

The way I see it is that if Stannis is made king, he will likely raise taxes, cut spending, etc etc etc so he can start paying back the debt. Things that most kings would not do because it will make their people hate them and potentially rise up against them, but Stannis is probably the kind of man who doesn't care what the commoners think and is willing to do all kinds of terrible things to keep his people in line given what we saw Lady Melissandra doing to his brother in law etc earlier in this season

Tyrion should nominate Varys as his champion. Spider mines do bad things to Goliaths.
