And who the fuck kills themselves in front of their kid? Well I guess just in case the suicide itself wasn't traumatic enough, right?

+ Show Spoiler + I could see Dexter getting accused for rita's death. Intent 1st. Quinn already had suspicions that Dexter was cheating on Rita. Police may think that Dexter just wanted to get Rita out of the picture. 2nd. The police can probably easily find out that they were seeing a marriage counselor and guess that there were problems going on in the marriage. 3rd. Elliot, the next door neighbor, can say that he kissed Rita and Dexter found out and punched him for it. Police can conclude that Dexter may have killed Rita out of jealousy. Opportunity 1st. Dexter knows everything Trinity's MO. It would be easy for him to stage a crime scene. 2nd. Depending on when they determine the time of death, Dexter could potentially not have an alibi. The series of events as I remember it goes like this. 1. Trinity goes to his house to take anything valuable. 2. Rita leaves and Dexter goes to Trinity's house. 3.Trinity's house gets raided by the police. 4.Dexter sees the windshield in the garage and realizes that the car is at the repair shop. 5.(Not showed in the show but we can assume) Dexter gets to the repair shop and removes the gas cap and then waits for Trinity. 6. Trinity picks up his car and drives away while Dexter follows him until the car breaks down. This means that trinity must have killed Rita anywhere between Trinity taking the valuable stuff from his own house and Trinity picking up his car at the repair shop. So it leaves Dexter with quite a lot of time alone and with no alibi. Idk, I can't wait for next season though. Lithgow was saying how genius the writing was for the dexter killing trinity scene because how we were almost building a sympathy for him while deep in his words have a completely different intention. I don't remember verbatim but it pretty much said that Trin did kill Rita, so I don't think that is in question. Unless they really want to throw us off for next season.

Her character was starting to get in the way. This opens up some really interesting possibilities. I am somewhat disappointed that the whole thing with Deb finding out about Dexter's past ended up being pretty minor and insignificant.

The thing with Deb will probably manifest itself more in the next season. IIRC the next book is coming out soon so the season shouldn't be delayed on its behalf. There are currently 4 Dexter books and the 5th one should be coming out within a few months I think.

I haven't read the fourth book, but up to the third book, that's only partially true. The first season of Dexter follows the first book, with only some minor changes (Doakes is older, Deb finds out about Dexter, etc). For the second book, the story is almost entirely different from the second season, with the only real similarity is that Doakes effectively becomes useless (instead of dead). The third book sucked, and took the Dark Passenger to some paranormal bullshit level. I have no idea what happens in the fourth book, and I'll read it eventually, but after the third, I'll stick to the show.

+ Show Spoiler + I couldn't beleive this... just finished watching. Thank god I had the self-control not to click on the spoilers. Blows my mind. This show just got more awesome in my mind. I don't know how he's gonna handle this. Being a single dad of 3, working a fulltime job and killing in his offtime. Jesus.

+ Show Spoiler + No way can Dexter be a single parent + serial killer. A friend of mine was reading one of the books and she said that in one the book Cody was showing signs of being a sociopath and Dexter was going to teach him the code. I can see that unfolding now but overall I thought Rita was a staple to the show. Her dying without his ultimate confession is also trash to me. I really really wanted to see her reaction ![]() Also, I always found it incredibly shocking that Laguerta never looked into what Doakes said about Dexter being the butcher. She just believed what she was told and that was that. Chicks are just dumb as fuck in Dexter

I remember reading something about a Greek God of death crap or something and that turns out to be what his dark passenger really is, or at least in his mind. I am assuming that is the book that got like 2 stars.

Idk, I can't wait for next season though. + Show Spoiler + Really like the evidence you compiled, but there are a few more things too that I noticed: a.) Dexter drove recklessly, fled the scene of a crime (hitting someone's car), and had to be restrained and arrested by police officers, further indications that he's unbalanced. b.) All of trinity's killings of women in bathtubs were young, and apparently single. They represented his 16 year old sister who died. Conversely, the women who he had commit suicides were mothers. Rita doesn't fit the profile of Trinity's victims - she's young, yes, but also a mother of 3 and a wife. Also Dexter found his baby at the scene of the crime - something the trinity killer didn't do at any of the other crime scenes. Police also knew Dexter worked the Trinity case and probably knows its details. Problem is, Rita's killing doesn't match Trinity's MO enough: It'll look like Dexter tried to cover up killing her by pretending it was Trinity. Plus Dexter punched Quinn - another sign of imbalance. Plus we've never seen Dexter cry (at least, I don't think we have). Police and relatives will expect Dexter to definitely be sobbing, but I doubt he'll be doing that - people will misconstrue his reaction and assume he isn't taking Rita's death too hard.

yea it was awesome for the show, but I am still recovering from the shock, I'm gonna miss Rita. ANyways, I've never seen a more unpredictable season, like the fifth season is gonna be. We have no clue whats gonna happen (only thing we might assume for sure is Debora finding out who Dexter really is, but what's gonna happen next after Rita's death we have no clue) The finale surely was... baffling
