obviously its supposed to be looked at a metaphorical sense as like sacrificing his life for his son or w/e

I don't appreciate your tone.
Had you paid attention to Naruto, you could guess that not every ninja knows every technique, that's why most techniques are passed down in their families.
The gate release technique was possibly recently invented by Gai's father. That would for example explain why other ninjas mocked him, because they didn't know how strong the technique is. Also it would explain why it is a total surprise to Gai when he was 12. (Other 12 year olds have even used their familiy techniques, for contrast.)

he can probably feel his chakra move to the last gate but doesnt open it thats probably what the training is being able to move your chakra to each gate then training to be able to open it and the last gate is easy enough that if you can open the other 7 then the 8 isnt that much harder

It is a forbidden technique since the very beginning. Because it destroys the user's body. That's why Rock Lee and Gai spend so much training their bodies.
Rock Lee was only "allowed" to use the technique during the Chuunin Exam to advance on his way of being a ninja.

I didn't realize i was watching OnePunch Man until now.
Basically Gai is stronger than every single ninja that existed that does not have SOP6 powers.
Deidara also commits suicide when he uses the 10 km bomb and i doubt that thing could scratch someone with SOP6 powers.
Just ridiculous when 8 gate is like 10 stronger than 9 tails cloak form where that form could barely hold a huge rock due to it's capacity. What is happening with kishi nowadays.
Apparently in the naruto universe you just need to train for like 20 years with pure taijutsu and so and even someone with SOP6 powers who is basically treated as a god could barely stand toe to toe vs you.

That redmist part is funny though, as if Madara had seen it before. The power levels balance in Naruto world have been heavily messed up since (long) long time ago so i wouldn't be bothered by that at all.

There is supposed to be a limit in trolling the power level.
I didn't know Kishi would go this far just to troll people.
This is just too sad that the he completely messed up the final arc and he keeps messing it up more. I was once a hardcore naruto fanboy. I am barely surviving every update on the manga. I was at the point where i cared no more and i after seeing Gai being revealed to be stronger than everyone it basically killed me inside.
Watching Naruto is like going to school you know . You hate it but you keep doing it.

why are people so freaking out about power levels? its been shown since LITERALLY the start of the manga that the tailed beasts arent actually that broken, Gamabunta pretty solo'd one by himself and hes just a summon
Gai has been shown to be Kage level by completely owning Kisame every time they met and using 7 gates was already able to pressure Madara
it only makes sense that using 8 gates would be enough to overpower Madara like this

anyway, kids can use techniques, should be pretty easy to konoha to train 10 guys who know the technique and maybe a few key others just so they won't have to waste it, and they can protect the village against anyone basically.

only 2 people have ever managed to learn that technique and you think someone would ever be able to get to a point where they could both 8 gate and use FTG? besides whats the point mixing them? noones gonna be able to outmaneuver a 8 gate user unless they can teleport anyway
also remember that theres no point learning the gates unless your Taijutsu expert if you cant even use the strength to its maximum itll just wear off and youll be imobile without taking out your opponent

both times though he easily took him out with one hit he quite clearly outclassed him by a fair marjin and remember in 7 gates he was able to pressure Madara

well I mean its not like the gates last for more than a few hits so if you don't kill them in that one hit you're screwed
also as I said sasuke was able to reach lees speed with a months training, I think if I were hokage I'd make sure to train taijutsu experts with the undertsanding that they'd sacrifice their life to defend the village with 8 gates
wouldn't have to worry about someone like pain when you can use 8 gates attack despite him being powerful enough to destroy a whole village
lee can use what 6 gates when he's about 16 I'm sure you could train people slightly less determined to use 8 at 25-30 years old
