It's been said repeatedly that opening all 8 gates makes you die after.
They'll probably do some crazy loophole to keep him alive like using Kamui or some random other technique to "close" the gates just before he dies to save him.

LOL. I didn't have much confusion with that page. I guess I figured we'll see more of a death scene rather than just Gai saying ahh or w/e he said. All in all, good chapter and it's great that Kabuto is back :D
I'm excited to see Gai open the 8th gate, just because Madara mentioned him 'going red.' Obviously he isn't going to end the battle, but it's a good way to buy some time. Decent chapter all in all.
I have to say, I do kind of like the symmetry of Obito and Kabuto, the two guys who started this war are the ones saving Naruto and Sasuke, the two guys who are going to end it.
IIRC at the start of the manga they stated that opening the 8 gates gave a power "similar to that of a Kage". At this point that should not be impressive at all xD
Of course Gai is gonna be awesome and lose tho, I hope it's as epic as Lee vs Gaara. Best fight in the series imo.

but gai at 7 gates is equal to one so at 8 gates he should surpass
and if the gates are exponential he might put himself on Hashi and Madaras level, i mean he was able to trade blows with madara using 7 gates so he should be able to at least pressure him with 8
I'm afraid there's no way out this time : ( Lee and Kakashi are already on the scene, everything is set up for a teary-eyed goodbye. I hope gai's last fight will do him justice.
