I'm predicting that Sasuke will awaken his own rinnegan in the coming chapters, making the way for my likely-bogus theory:

Naruto is the reincarnation of the Sage's younger son (the Senju ancestor), and Sasuke is the reincarnation of the older son (the Uchiha ancestor.) And, just like those sons, Naruto represents the Sage's "body": that of strong life force and physical energy, while believing in the strength of love. Sasuke represents his "eyes", possessing his dojutsu, powerful chakra, and believes in the strength of power and force.

However where the Sage's sons were split by their ideologies, Naruto and Sasuke will represent the healing of these two bloodlines, and the possibility for peace despite their differences. Together they will use their different strengths to overcome Madara and finally bring peace to the ninja world, just as the Sage intended for his sons.

I think it's a nice way to give both Naruto and Sasuke a big role to play (it feels a little too top heavy now with all the "Naruto is the messiah" crap) and it would give a bit of a poetic ending to the Senju/Uchiha conflict, though Naruto technically isnt a Senju.

A bit of a shot in the dark, but thats what I'm hoping. I understand Naruto is the main character at all, but it would feel weird giving him the rinnegan over the guy who's literally represented the strength of eye-techniques this entire time.
