Who cares about such logic at this point. Kishi has been breaking his own rules for a while now already.

Seems like only a small jump, if any at all, for him to be able to do what he wants with the Rinnegan he has. And thinking about it, it feels more and more like that's what's going to happen. His moves against Madara have been to postpone, so he can get the Nine-Tails back to Naruto, transferring the Rinnegan seems like a logical next step, keeping it out of Madara's hands by giving it to someone stronger than he is. Insert a speech about entrusting the future to someone with the same dreams he had, but that didn't make the mistakes he made, and you have chapter 667.
I hope I didn't call it right there, wouldn't be any fun. But yeah, this chapter felt like a real turning point, like the last dozen or so chapters were almost filler, now Kishi finally got to the part he wanted to write. That last panel with Naruto, with no words, and the buildup to it just have a feel I was missing from recent chapters. I also got the feeling about Madara that he's been messing with powers he wasn't meant to have. I don't think this will be a talk-no-jutsu ending.

This would be a convenient time to switch over to Sasuke, since Naruto can pull a Kakashi and stay out of the "real world" for a while. That's what I'm hoping for.

Dunno about becoming a full-on host of the juubi, he only has bits and pieces, but something is bound to happen. As far as reincarnations of the sage of six paths goes, though, neither Obito nor Madara have really done it. Perhaps their altered appearance reflects their malicious intent, since reading people's hearts is something that's supposed to follow with that kind of power. Here's an important page - http://www.mangapanda.com/naruto/665/8 - it describes that power to connect peoples' hearts, what chakra was supposed to be originally. This depiction of the sage of six paths shows another little tidbit - the person who has most closely resembled that likeness so far, and the one who is actually able to read into peoples' hearts in much the same way, is Naruto, not Obito or Madara. Maybe I'm reading into it more than is there, but that's fine. Awesome chapter overall though.
My biggest clue for Naruto = true Sage of 6 was on that same panel, but Kishi has made it even less subtle than that. Naruto has already managed to connect everyone's chakra together. He already is the literal link for everyone.

I'm sorry, but what's all this talk about Gai? I just re-read the whole thing, and I only see him in the flashback.
....guess I fell for the troll.

He flies in and saves Kakashi from the orb flying at him. Kakashi mentions something about him always being right on time. Then Gai asks Madara who he is cause he looks familiar and Madara is just speechless.

No actually, you're right, that could be awesome. Just like Ichigo in Bleach, showing up in the final moments to let the seemingly invincible villain disintegrate in the shadow of his magnificence. But I have a harder time seeing what could happen in the real world/Kamui dimension to let things drag on dramatically like that. Without plot armor, Madara just bombs everything while Obito... tells Naruto a story or something? He better have something good lined up if that's how he's gonna go. At least we still don't know wtf Hashirama's gift to Sasuke was, it could be something that lets him stall the villain like Vegeta, whle Goku's preparing to show up and take all the credit.

Madara may not be able to complete his goal yet though, he must have gone to collect the second Rinnegan for a reason, maybe while Obito is chilling in Kamui-verse Madara has no way to "win" which gives them a big chance to stall him

I actually feel it's time for kishi to level up his trolling technique and focus on a character like tenten or something. Give it a couple of chapters of filler to extend it out even more.

not a bad chapter at all. I enjoyed it. Seeing Obito regain his sense and join their side even if he's going to die in the end was great. As mentioned, I think Obito and Kakashi will die in this fight and the Rin flashback is foreshadowing that. Gai is likely to die as well seeing that he's opened up his 8 gates. Hope Kishi doesn't make him dominate Madara hard and rather fight on his level for a bit of time before he can't keep up otherwise it'll look out of place. Excited for next chapter. Let's just hope for a bit of flashbacks and not a whole chapter of them lol. Also, Naruto having chakra from all the tailed beasts. Good catch for whoever caught it lol

If Kakashi is seriously gonna go down, he deserves a better/longer flashback.

Another thing that really bothers me - clearly Obito has full control over black Zetsu right now and somehow he was still forced to use the resurrection technique on Madara earlier? More plot holes....

Zetsu appeared at the last minute in a surprise attack to slightly change a jutsu Obito was already performing. Obito has been fighting Zetsu for control ever since.
