The growth in Naruto isn't quite a linear increase in power like it was for most of the core characters (except Gohan) in DBZ. For example, Naruto was able to use a number of the tails before learning Sage Mode. And using more tails isn't strictly more powerful than sage mode. It's more of a sidegrade than a pure upgrade (i.e. resistance to Chakra absorption, inability to mass shadow clone, etc...). It seems kind of like when Gohan got trained by the Supreme Kai and ended up unlocking a power that was different from his Saiyan powers.

The fox is always trying to come out when it gets the chance (when Naruto gets angry), and someone has to actively stop it. In the past, that role has fallen to Naruto himself, Tsunade's necklace, Yamato, Jiraiya, and even Sasuke.

Apparently jumping from a power level in the hundred thousands to ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY MILLION is linear?? The Frieza saga was plain zenkai bullshit from Toriyama.

The Tailed Beasts (尾獣, Bijū) are nine giant monsters that serve to drive the plot of the Naruto series. They are differentiated by the number of tails they have, ranging from one to nine. The tailed beasts are large, living forms of chakra, sometimes referred to as "Chakra Monsters" (チャクラのバケモノ, Chakura no Bakemono),[1] giving them power that far outmatches most shinobi. However, this immense strength is tempered by their bestial nature, which restricts them from being intelligent enough to use it effectively. As such, when the tailed beasts are sealed within humans, they are able to benefit from the knowledge of their hosts, giving them the ability to better utilise their powers.[2] In the anime, all the tailed beasts' chakra is coloured red. Here we see the beasts humanized and personified. They seem to get along and are pretty human. They seem suddenly to have daddy issues and are talking to eachother like siblings. Where's the feral rage that we've become used to seeing? You can't tell me the tailed beasts have been mentally sound all this time and the entire ninja world has been totally oblivious to it. If people knew the beasts have such human personalities, then befriending them would have been hell of a lot more efficient than sealing them away and spending generations attempting to create vessels that can utilize their power. They would be more like a summoned pet like the frogs and slugs and snakes and what not. I really don't like how the beasts are being portrayed.

Of course they were friendly with the sage, they LOVED him. And they see the sage in Naruto, as someone who truly values them not for their power, but for their friendship.

Right and out of the 9 beasts, no ninja in history thought maybe they should talk to one until Killerbee came? None of the beasts thought it wise to try and speak out against their mistreatment while they're being used for wars, maybe try and communicate that they're sentient at the very least? You'd think that with all the nice Hokages that we've been introduced to, there'd be one that took pity on the critter and befriend them.

Most likely they were kind of pissed off at being treated as weapons and sealed up, so they just rampaged around when they had the chance. Since so few people actually came into contact with them, its not surprising that so little is known about them. It's probably better for the village governments, otherwise PETA would get on their asses.

The wars involving these animals were giant and with tons of participants, so how in the world were there no contact? They should have made themselves known, if not to the enemy, at least to their captors. Every single one of these Jinchurikis KNOW their beasts, so we know communication is possible with all of them. Were every single one of their predecessors total assholes that did nothing but insult the beasts that reside inside them? Is that what Naruto's mother did? In case anyone reading don't get my point, the tailed beasts, given their history, can't possibly all be sentient beings. Maybe the fox and the octopus can be the exception if only for the sake of the story, but we can't have every single one of these creatures be so "human". This last chapter makes no sense.

They were visible, but they didn't communicate. Maybe after a few hundred years or whatever, they just gave up on trying to talk to Jinchuruuki who looked at them as giant chakra batteries. You don't really know how the seals worked for the tailed beasts either. I mean, look at how Gaara was.

Its not particularly interesting but based on the kind of story its trying to tell its sound enough. Id just not overthink it, its not really worth it.

I mean, look at how Gaara was. http://www.mangareader.net/naruto/572/5 You have the beasts and their jinchuruuki sitting on top of them. If a giant tapeworm inside you suddenly crawled out of you and start talking to some guy sitting next to you, would you be introducing yourself to the guy instead of freaking out at the chance to meet the tape worm? Their reaction is one of familiarity, they are acquainted. http://www.mangareader.net/naruto/572/8 Just look at the chatting! I'm pretty sure this concept of communication was nowhere in the author's mind when he came up the fight with Gaara. This new addition of humanity to the beasts is illogical and unjustifiable. Also, as to your statement of "a few hundred years later". You have any idea how many people these beasts have contact with in the first few hundred years? It takes just one person to break the misconceptions. On February 02 2012 15:07 Rebs wrote: You do realise the stuff in the wiki is taken from whatever is revealed in the manga ? Its pretty simple, the tailed beasts have had the same problems that an antagonist like say.. Nagato does, you know.. villain by circumstance. A pretty convenient motif for shounen manga. Thats where our hero comes in and does what no one ever tried to do thats why hes the hero. Thats precisely what the manga is trying to tell you, that after a probable period of strife with humans (and amongst themselves as ventured by the eight tails aswell) its just a broader longer lived story of what Naruto overcomes himself as a kid. Maybe at some point the boundaries drawn between them and humans had become so vast no one bothered to do it till Naruto, hence destined child etc etc. So no maybe the people they tied to werent assholes but neither they nor the beasts were inclined to improve relationships. Its not that unrealistic. I mean you could make the same argument to people going to war.. "why cant we just all talk it out and get along?" thats lazy and overly simplistic and unfortunately rarely happens even in real life, so why not here, where is the painful inconsistency ? Its not particularly interesting but based on the kind of story its trying to tell its sound enough. Id just not overthink it, its not really worth it. Naruto isn't the first person to master he beast. We know for sure Killerbee did it, it's not a like a main character massiah trait. If you are confined within a guy living with the ability to communicate, you will communicate, I don't care how many people you've gone through without success. If they have all given up from hundreds of years of trauma, I'd be trying to kill my Jinchuruuki in this little conversation here instead of reminiscing about childhood.
