I thought this episode was a little Shakespearean with it's title. Could have stood to see Vegeta get beat up some before he had his moment but good nonetheless.
Solid episode imo, looking forward to Jiren+personality. Hope he survives this arc. Still hoping for a desperation IT from Goku and a new story with Goku wanting to get stronger than Jiren with some fluff from the angels.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems reasonable to me that DBS is for people who used to watch DBZ. Those people aren't really kids anymore.

This time Vegeta has truly spent all his energy!!!111111!1!!
Next episode preview: Vegeta fights together with Goku in his Ascended blue form.
Ok!
Without looking at plot... It was alright.

Vegeta is my favorite and it's always nice when he gets cool moments but honestly, it wasn't that grand. Like, he was dominating Toppo already anyway, it was so weird to see him go for the Final Explosion and risk dropping out (when we still have no concept on how it's decided who gets the wish). I would have preferred to see his new finisher from the manga, the Gamma Burst Flash, animated.
Also sad that GoD Toppo didn't eliminate anyone at all. Universe 11 is gonna finish the tournament with only Jiren eliminating someone by himself.

Who would have thought C-17 would be in the top 5! I don't see how Jiren can win a 1 vs 4.
I mean the only ones who can hurt Jiren are Goku and Vegeta. Freeza is way outclassed and same with 17. Now this is Super and power scaling is always thrown out for the story, but Jiren could take out 17/Freeza easily and could probably do the same to Goku/Vegeta at full power.
I assume 17 is out next episode and Vegeta on 128. I would like Goku and Vegeta to work together and beat Jiren, but I think it'll either be Freeza/Goku or just Goku.

Freezer might come up with something dirty. It’s true that in a straight fight he’s outclassed if vs. Toppo was any metric, but it wouldn’t be the first time he got through it. He’s nothing if not absurdly durable.

I really liked this episode, have been yearning for Vegeta vs Toppo for so long and this delivered. Prince, godlike fighter, and father, this is the magnificent, fully developed Vegeta we've been looking for.
Now that it's 4v1 pretty much as expected, the tree of possibles reopens a bit. Who do you think will be the last 2 fighters standing for U7, before this all gets resolved ?

One can dream as Goku hasn't fully done his thing yet, but I'd love to see Vegeta & Frieza working together in the end.

My only issue with this arc is how short fights are. I'd rather have seen less of the random filler fights we saw earlier in the arc in order for Vegeta vs Toppo to last a couple of eps. Instead it lasted less than half an episode...
Hopefully Goku vs Jiren is epic.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but how are Vegeta's energy attacks even getting through Toppo's destruction energy? I thought the idea was that destruction can well, destroy all that stuff. Is it the density? I certainly didn't buy into Vegeta somehow outclassing Toppo and pulling off a final explosion yet surviving it.
If he beat Toppo but also died, that would've been much much better and gave more meaning to the scene imo. Still, I'm enjoying Super but honestly, 17 should've lost a long while ago, same with Freiza when he got stomped by Toppo. Not sure why they have in mind here but those two, especially 17, should've been knocked out a while ago!

I thought it had something to do with him using his God ki.

Agreed. Isn't SSB a form that's using god ki, aka akin to destruction energy. It isn't just a normal energy blast like 17 was throwing out.

Also known as SSGSS.

Considering Toriyama loves his gags, maybe Freeza will appear at the last second and kick Jiren in the balls during an all out energy blast fight with Goku.
The writing puzzled me a bit. I though Vegeta would use a powerful attack out of desperation but it looked like he was winning and should've just gone for the ring out.

Freeza jobbing Jiren with a Johnny Cage then wishing Goku into Freeza's former fate would make everything in life worth it.

Hell with cute animals and fairies? Goku wouldn't mind that at all, compared to Frieza.

My young cousin just started DB kai after watching DB recut. He is new to the anime. I was watching the sayans battle with him, and it's interesting how Muten Roshi decides to stay out because he is so weak that he would get in the way, and that they say those saibaman are at raditz level.
Yet in super Roshi comes back to fight the frieza army and to figth in the tournament of power. While even a saibaman is stronger.
|
I just assume Roshi decided to train at some point. He’s clearly stronger than he was then.
|
I wouldn't put too much though in Mute Rishi fighting in the tournament. He's just fan service.
|
Yet yamcha is weak is a meme. The guy "beat" a saibaman and trained with Kai-oh, so gravity training. Roshi shouldn't even be close.
