We've officially reached the point that Beerus(think it was him) alluded to at one point: that Goku and Vegeta are at a level where they can take on at least a weaker God of Destruction, and win. The problem is that Jiren is still a couple steps above that, and now he's finally showing his power. You got 4 minutes, Goku. That's like 8 episodes.

It was nonetheless a cool fight, good to see Vegeta's powerup finally mean something, and for him to actually have a satisfying fight scene. The way Vegeta used his power, concentrating it into his fist and shattering the Destruction energy, was very reminiscent of what Goku did in the manga. Don't want to pop your bubble but as far as we know there is 5 episode left in the whole series, so not more then 3-4 for the fight, unless they end it on a cliffhanger (lets say Jirren or Frieza winning the tournament)

The animation was very very well done. Seeing Vegeta's new blue form in action against someone who isn't so OP was very aswesome too. How he destroyed atacks with his own energy/aura. You could even say he hakai'ed one of toppo's hakais. Very cool. But am I the only one who thought that the callback to DBZ was totally unnecessary? The way the title made the episode sound made me think Vegeta was cornered and this was a last ditch effor to defeat Toppo, but actually Vegeta was wrecking Toppo. Like Toppo couldn't hit Vegetta anymore, both his usual atacks and destruction hakais were ineffective. Not only was it just for fan service, but a lazy cop out to give us less animation. They wasted so much time showing the whole DBZ callback just to be lazy and not animate more of the fight. Maybe if they had re-animated that db scene with super's artstyle, but no, it was just pure laziness. I would have thought that with only 5-6 episodes remaining they would squeese all the time they can and make it as epic and interesting as possible. Not only that but the first 3-5 minutes were literally the last 5 minutes of the last episode. Freeza getting wrecked again and then Toppo agaisnt 17 beam atacks. Then you add the actual episode recap that airs at the beggining (so we basically had a double episode recap) plus the useless "this episode preview" that they started showing a while ago...this episode, as cool as it was, was basically 10 minutes long.

When does frieza have a parazlying ability??? why didnt he fucken use this on dyspo da fuck... As much as i love that vegeta scene, super is like a fanfiction of dbz just throwing in every bit of reference and cool moments from the orginal dbz into itself. and it goes without saying that power levels have been completely abolished why even have frieza in non-golden form (how can he do anything without it) Vegeta has expended all his energy in the blast to knock toppo out but in the preview hes back to blue and fighting with goku? Look why didnt they just write in sensu beans for them or something this is retarded. The manga has to like completely retcon these last 20 eps or something cause its making just as much sense has when zamus became the universe

what i mean is, it could be done a lot better, and every episode is badass, but that cuts the budget severely and we have less content overall (which i'm sure most prefer), but this is the route they've taken. it works and i'm left wanting more but objectively they do deliver that once in a while. this show is also supposed to appeal to younger audience. what i prefer the most is if they get better writers. i definitely don't mind nonsense once in a while, but right now we're just focused on the flurry of new, hidden, limit-breaking powers that are seemingly thrown in there to give a jolt of surprise to the viewer. if it were done with better care, there's no problem with it. yu yu hakusho had multiple little powerups during an important fight but was done under much more realistic expectations (earlier DBZ) instead of with different coloured ki-blasts flying everywhere and us left thinking that it won't work. until finally they do some mega ki push of war with their gathered energy. if they aren't going to do that, then they do a form change mid-fight having to do with pride, desperation or some other emotional theme. it all comes back to how quickly this is all supposed to take place and i wish they had touched on it better. all this shit on screen is supposed to be happening at 10x speed of what we're actually seeing. when goku blue with kaioken (proven to be the strongest form in the series to that point) failed to make a dent in jiren, that helped the situation sink in. now it's a big ??? as to what's happening and what bullshit is going to happen for them to force jiren to his knees. i wish they would touch on how billions of souls are at stake and it's more than winning or losing the fight at any cost. a desperate person says desperate things, like vegeta asking goku to kill frieza for the saiyan race at the end of that arc.

I thought this episode was a little Shakespearean with it's title. Could have stood to see Vegeta get beat up some before he had his moment but good nonetheless. Solid episode imo, looking forward to Jiren+personality. Hope he survives this arc. Still hoping for a desperation IT from Goku and a new story with Goku wanting to get stronger than Jiren with some fluff from the angels.

Loved the flashback to the Buu fight, my favorite DBZ scene. Who would have thought C-17 would be in the top 5! I don't see how Jiren can win a 1 vs 4.
