That being said, I really want to finish The Divine Comedy sometime soon. Made it halfway through 2 years ago and just stopped reading it for no reason, even though I enjoyed it a lot. Adding a picture to follow the format: I found that halfway through the book, it started padding itself unnecessarily and became absurdly dry
Yep, hell is definitly the best part :D I mean who cares about boring angels when you can have torture and sex!

Finished this: The Fault In Our Stars + Show Spoiler + I loved this book, was a very quick read. Not very many things make me cry, but any book by John Green seems to do the trick. The characters seemed to me like actual people and the end of the story left me wanting to know more about what happened to them.
Reading this: Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power + Show Spoiler + Never really read much non-fiction but this book (even though I'm only about twenty pages in) is really peaking my interest. It is interesting to find out a little more about one of the men who is looked on as one of the most important framers of the U.S.
Next up: Dune + Show Spoiler + Never read it, but I have heard great things about this book. Can't wait to get around to reading it, unfortunately I have trouble when reading more than one book at the same time, so it will have to wait.

The Foundation series. Great so far onto the 4th I think

"piquing my interest." "piques my interest"

Keep in mind that now you are jumping like 40 yrs in stylistic time.

Yeah I did realise that when I saw the gap between them in real time. I have faith that he has only gotten better though :D

Well, considering he was 19 and could barely string together a sentence for the original series, he can't help but have gotten better now can he
I do like the later ones more. They are more interesting.

Scrap the Empire novels, they are not as good as the rest due to his young age. Read the foundation books in the order they were published. Then read the Robot series. Asimov have 3 other novels that are stand-alone but amazing sci-fi: End of Eternity, The Gods themselves, and Nemesis.

I think it's more fun if you read the chronology because then you get to read the bridge novels in a way that makes sense
edit: anyway that's how I first read them so it's obviously the best

Book one had an awesome narration technique, wonderfully intriguing characters, a plot where the characters motivation is never contrived, and that absorbing quality where you don't realize how much you've read until it's 3 am and you have work at 7. Hoping book 2 takes me on a similar journey.
Yeah, wise mans fear is good. You can find more fault with it than the first book, but still a great story, being told by a good writer.
Cant remember what i was reading previously. Think was dresden files book 1? Need to find 2nd book.
Currently reading stephen kings dark tower series. Gunslinger seems alright so far.
Next up, 2nd book of either of the aforementioned series.

Yeah thats the order I was going for. I have Prelude to Foundation sitting on my shelf but I plan on reading it when I get to it on the publish timeline.
Are the Empire novels based on the first Empire from the Foundation series?
|
Yes, the Empire novels are the same as the old Empire in Foundation.
edit: kinda. One of them takes place on earth, which obviously doesn't quite match up. The unified chronology is a bit of a ret con.

The Kingkiller Chronicles are amazing, can't wait for day 3.
As for the Dark Tower series, I love those books so much. Just make sure you stick with it after Gunslinger, I think it's quite a weak start to the series, and probably the least enjoyable book of the series.

That sounds like it would be pretty cool to read about... Getting ahead of myself here though I still have loads of books before that decision.

Thanks for the advice on dark tower series. I was wondering how the series would relate to the first book, because at times i was bored with it.
And yes, day 3 cant get here fast enough.

I'm reading this for potential job opportunities as a waiter at very high end restaurants. If you are interested in wine, this book is incredibly informative with lots of tips, and they do a decent job of keeping things light and a bit humorous so reading it is not a total bore.
Recommended for those interested in starting wine as a hobby.
EDIT: didn't realize the picture was that big, sorry

1Q84.
Everyone read it. Now.
It's the story of a Japanese woman who walks down a staircase, and accidently ends up in an alternate reality.

The Empire series isn't as good as the rest and can be skipped, but I enjoyed them.

I'm reading it now. None of my friends seem to have liked it, however

Yeah, the Dark Tower gets super weird later on. It's good.
