Edit: if you go with the Maudes get the Oxford Library edition, since it retains the french passages(which are about 2% of the book). Some versions translated them into english, which is a mistake. Watching the french usage throughout the novel is very important to understand it. | ||

I read it in portuguese, so I can't give an informed opinion. Don't get me wrong, I like P&V a lot; I'm just saying that when it comes to Tolstoy, the Maudes are a good option in case you don't like P&V. Edit: The same goes for McDuff when it comes to Dostoyevsky. | ||
