I guess the prequels did look gorgeous...some of the time. The poster gives me super KoToR vibes though, so there's hope. Also, that poor African American actor really does seem to be out of breath or scared in every single trailer. Can't catch a break. His head actually looks normal sized in the reaction videos.

They have a pretty distinct look from OT TIE Fighters (The TIE/LN from Ep IV is nearly obsolete by Ep VI anyway, so this is expected.) That said, the upgrade wouldn't have had to be major; the repulsor on a TIE is underdeveloped and would have needed improvement, but those huge wings give it fairly strong heat dissipation, so even without a shield it should do fine in reentry. (Yes, I know we've all decided those are "solar panels" but heat dissipation is the obvious design constraint of shit in Star Wars and the energy generated by solar panels that size wouldn't power a satellite, never mind a fighter with laser weaponry. Early sources strongly suggest it's for the heat, just like the radiators on X, A, and B wings.)

I'd think it's even easier because if you're flying a planetary TIE fighter you can skimp a bit on the vacuum suits the pilots use. Doesn't need to be 100% airtight anymore if you're not going to space.
