How can you call a movie ''Star Wars'' without JWs music though?

is john williams dead or something? why would anyone mention score on this film as if it wont be by john williams?
no john williams will be more sickening than any misplaced cast or director

i dunno, then again, new composer would/should just recycle the sound track from the other 6 movies.

My favourite Star Wars tune is actually that one with the tuba playing an arpeggio at the beginning. It's got such an evocative, bulky, slimy, unpredictable tune and sound, and really evokes the strangeness and presence of the Hutts and other such space creatures.

Actually I'm not sure that was by John Williams. I'm not even sure where it comes from. But I'm pretty sure it's the music for the menu of one of the Star Wars DVDs, probably episode VI.

So, even more Star Wars movies than the three that were already announced!

Disney, which bought Lucasfilm last year for more than $4bn (£2.55bn), plans to make spin-off movies based on some of the characters in the Star Wars universe.

As a counterpoint, you could also think of all those great Avenger spin-offs that Disney makes (you know, Thor, Ironman, not so much Captain America).

Since they own the licensing I feel like a movie around the time of KOTOR could be really cool.

Let's be honest it will probably be the latter.

So this makes, what, five Star Wars movies in development?

I would like a movie based on Thrawn Trilogy more than anything. I just want to see the great Mitth'raw'nuruodo in a live action movie. They don't have to scramle for new stuff, just get the damn trilogy and turn it into a movie. Movies based on books can work, look at LOTR. Many people read the book, but still I'm sure they were not an overwhelming majority of the people who in the end seen and grown attached to the story told.

As a standalone, single movie I would really really love Traitor from NJO made into a movie. It's my favourite book of all time in the EU, and probably one the best sci-fi novel I've ever read. A really thought provoking, deep and philosophical book about Force and the Light/Dark side, something we have never seen in the original trilogy or the prequel. That's what I really loved about EU, that it expands the great potential untold in the movies we've seen. Explaining the YV invasion could be a little hard in this case because it's such a major event.

If it's going to be a new movie, I really have no idea where they'll start from. I think it depends on whether they'll use EU material or not.

Most likely they'll turn out to be cookie-cutter shit for the children and the masses. I hope they prove me wrong by taking some risks, but I'm not expecting anything.

Star wars isn't exactly known to be thought-provoking. In fact, it was a pretty distilled and simple story meant for mass consumption. The only risk it took is the setting and technology.

And that doesn't take away anything from the movies. Sometimes it's nice to have a nice and simple story done right. The deal is you pay some $9 (lolol who am I kidding, $12-$18) and you get 2-3 hours of enjoyment out of it.

Another website reporting:

http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/02/06/star-wars-spin-offs-young-han-solo-movie-boba-fett/

I hear Han Solo, Boba Fett and Yoda to be three spin offs.

I don't know how to feel. Should I be happy new Star Wars shit is coming? Or should I despair that a cornerstone of my childhood might be ruined?

It didn't take away from the original trilogy, because they were the first ones. Now we have 6 films, with a bunch of other material as well. If they keep doing the same diluted thing over and over again, there will be a diminishing return on how enjoyable or entertaining it'll be. I'm not necessarily asking for convoluted plots or darker tones. I'm just looking for more mature themes and a different take to the universe we've gotten pretty used to.

I feel like that the Starwars universe is very wide and has a lot of depth. It feels like the 6 movies didn't even scratch the surface. Not to mention that the 3 prequels didn't do much to inform us of said universe. It was something about a confederation... and some galactic senate. I mean sure, that was some exploration, but it wasn't in anyway a focal point, and if you were to ask the people what the plot of the first 3 episodes, it would be a story of how Anakin became Darth Vader.

In fact, what they should do is cut ties to that part of the universe and only keep the Jedi council as the constant (with possible slight run-ins or mentions of the 1-6 universe). Make new characters, develop them well, and explore them. That way you aren't tied down to some convoluted writing of the first 6.

I hope they take the Boba Fett movie to a PG-13 level. A darker Star Wars movie about the criminal underworld would be fuckin' awesome if done properly.

Nothing runs more counter to the charm and wonder of the original trilogy than this sentence. Also, I imagine it being said by comic book guy from the simpsons.

Dear god yes, on all accounts. Unfortunately, I don't think Traitor, as awesome as it is, really fits as a stand alone movie. You really need most of the rest of the NJO stuff for it to fit and make sense, and you really need a good sense of Jacen Solo's character going into it to really understand it.

You can probably do the Yuuzhan Vong invasion (all 19 books of it) in about 6-7 movies if you cut out a ton of nonessential stuff.
